Re: Help evade
I think it's time to reveal who I am. I'm Woshiyiweizhongguoren, a long-term abuser. I have participated in about 16 (!) different SPI cases, but here is my main one: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Woshiyiweizhongguoren/Archive. You might have also known me as Heil...

Re: How to be a sockpuppeteer
I'm so good at this that I have participated in at least 17 SPIs! * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Johnny_Shiz/Archive * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Elitepast/Archive * https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investi...

Edgar181 banned
TL;DR: Edgar181 is not what he seems. He has been using 13 different sockpuppet accounts for over 13 years, mainly to stack votes. And CU has finally caught him.

Re: Help evade
Unless you want to get into complicated tricks, give it a rest for three months. Get rid of your Wikipedia cookies. If you were using fixed access, use something else. (Supposedly data more than three months old is dumped. That's true, as to the raw data, but if you have attracted much attention, s...

Re: How to be a sockpuppeteer
But cookies aren't considered CheckUser data, I'm pretty sure. They're just there so that socks can be prevented. To be exact, it's to prevent block evasion, not socking. If a blocked user logs in, a cookie "enwikiBlock" is set in the browser, and kept after logging out. It blocks editing...

Re: How to be a sockpuppeteer
This advice is out of date. Wikipedia primarily tracks socks using cookies now. So clear 'em. I seriously doubt they ever really used IP addresses as the primary identifier. It's always been User Agent strings and behavioral cues. I think CheckUsers use mostly UA, device, and geographical data, and...

Re: How to be a sockpuppeteer
CheckUsers use IP info. If two editors edit from the same IP, and only one IP, then it's either the same person (most likely), or a house (possibly family, but usually fake brother) or a school/dorm (favorite target of Bbb23). These are CU blocked before they can claim it's a shared network behind ...
