WIRED runs another love letter to Wiki-world

https://www.wired.com/story/wikipedia-online-encyclopedia-best-place-internet/ He attempted to write a "balanced" piece. But it still ends up looking like a Walesian Wiki-Luv blowjob, which is par for the course at WIRED. I guarantee some of his statements will make readers on this forum grind their...

"Early Internet Activists" blowing something

Some amusing mushmouthing from Mike Godwin: https://yro.slashdot.org/story/20/02/17/2039256/did-the-early-internet-activists-blow-it?utm_source=rss1.0mainlinkanon&utm_medium=feed But with a couple of good comments below it: Look at Wikipedia, the largest “open” website on the web. It has a central c...

Re: Academic Jobs Wiki "Universities to Fear" page

thanks, that's plllllenty..... None of it surprises me. Even when I was in college in the late 70s there was plenty of dysfunction in the "land of higher learning". The major state university I went to was a joke, spending fortunes on massive new buildings and facilities but hiring the scrapings of ...

Re: We have passed 1000 coronavirus deaths....

The conspiracy freaks are having multiple cows over what the Chinese did, or might have done. I've seen rants about millions dead and mountains of corpses being burned and thus making air pollution worse globally. Of course the Chinese govt is trying to cover up things, but I don't think it is as ho...

Re: Crap or questionable articles

HAVE ANOTHER!! A dead-typical long, long list of red links for obscure plants. They still have this kind of thing for genus lists of bacteria, insects, protozoa, etc. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draba Which reminds me: there is an ugly political battle over a deeply obscure flower only found in a ...

Re: Vigilant!!!

The only thing he's worth is about 2 and a half pages and a lock of the thread. Normally I would agree. Unfortunately he's got considerable sway over Wikipediocracy's operations. And since he likes to troll wikiinaction (albeit with no success!), he's spreading his crap to other sites. Except this ...

Re: Experiences with RationalWiki and MetaPedia?

hmm, guess not, so.... RationalWiki History Started in 2007 as an openly biased wiki, RationalWiki 1 is supposed to be the exact opposite of Wikipedia. And yet, many Wikipedians have accounts there (most notably David Gerard 2 , one of the founders and sysops; and Tom Morris 3 , plus many others 4 )...
