Re: Articles Wikipedia should have--but doesn't.

Ever heard of a Danish TV show called "Ultra Strips Down"? Neither has Wikipedia! https://www.nytimes.com/2020/09/18/world/europe/denmark-children-nudity-sex-education.html https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/news/ultra-strips-down-danish-tv-show-children-naked-adults-b506371.html ht...

Re: Users retiring from Wikipedia

Here is someone who went from administrator to blocked sockmaster, similarly to Edgar181. Od Mishehu (Eli Falk from Israel) was a really strange character. If not for the 2011 Arbcom mailing list leaks this might have gone unnoticed. it took the fuckers EIGHT YEARS to do something about him..... ht...

Re: Users retiring from Wikipedia

I just read that Cassianto and schrocat are claiming retirement. Good, Wikipedia is better off without them. I seriously doubt Cassianto will just walk away. He's been grinding en-WP for ten years, and someone's got to guard that stupid little shrine he built for Stanley Holloway. (Family relation ...

Future Perfect at Sunrise ?! What kind of user name is that?! Ha ha...... Lukas Pietsch Dr. Pietsch <lukas.pietsch uni-hamburg.de> is a well-regarded professor of English at the University of Hamburg, and a published academic figure in the world of linguistics. Remarkably, he is also a backstabbing...

Re: Wikimedia-internal alternative to Wikia suggested at village pump

Opposed to special treatment for fanboys and their pet projects. -Indy beetle (talk) 22:35, 7 September 2020 (UTC) Fuck you, little person. Your idiot project already gives "special treatment to fanboys". chart8TVshows.gif And this would not happen in any case, because it would cause Jimbo to lose ...

Re: Users retiring from Wikipedia

Well I didn't start editing until 2007 so I don't know what it was like before that. I do--started adding to vacuum tube articles in 2004. Back then it was quiet, and barely noticed, except by extreme nerds. Interest blew up in 2005 and by 2007, deletionist patrollers and their insane friends had a...

"Wikipedia edits have massive impact on tourism, say economists"

Another Wiki-Is-Magic propaganda piece from Jimbo's favorite newspaper, the Guardian : https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2020/sep/18/wikipedia-edits-have-massive-impact-on-tourism-say-economists They also discovered something Graaf told us (over and over and over) for years: Dutch Wikipedia is ...

Re: Users retiring from Wikipedia

remember: the shitheads actually took over in 2007, about the time Essjay quit. By 2010 even Sue Gardner was complaining about the crazy deletionist admins and even-crazier robots. Not to mention the ingrained misogyny. It took them that long to make WP fully dysfunctional. In the case of tiptoey, t...

Re: AmaryllisGardener and Scots Wikipedia

Let's check in on sco.WP, shall we? It appears that AmaryllisGardener has not been back since August 31st. Just hiding out (but retaining his miserable admin rights). The few other regulars are still grinding minor edits but I don't see a concerted effort to fix anything AG did. And I have real doub...

Re: Articles Wikipedia should have--but doesn't.

Last year the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences elected David Rubin its President. Rubin has a 40-year career as a casting director in Hollywood and on television. Why is there no Wikipedia article about him??
