Re: I am a bored bird

No new revelations for this thread? I would poke into some of those newly minted admins but don't have much spare time. Knock yourself out, Mr. Bird and anyone else who cares.

Re: Abecedare

Don't look at me---the new guy must have been saving up resentments of the "WP Way" for years and discovered this forum. I asked him to try to put comments into older threads instead of creating a raft of new ones. Almost ANYTHING he could bring up has been discussed here before. (Do you realize thi...

Re: The Signal leak by Trump's crew

PS, now there's a NY Times article asking "Who are Katherine Maher and Paula Kerger?"

So, not very important people, eh?

Re: The Signal leak by Trump's crew

She's a terrible liar, which makes me wonder how she rose so high in the nonprofit world.....but then I could say similar things about Marjorie Taylor Greene. Musk is still not as smart as he thinks he is. Great squawking was the result (with the usual left-right polarity, same sort of idiocy in two...

Re: WMF projects

We know all this. I wrote it up in-depth for the book and posted it on the book wiki. And that was more than 10 years ago, yet their practices have changed very little--and I suspect the database's shortcomings have also changed very little. A hundred dollar bill says that this study, if rerun again...

One of my favorite policies is NOTBURO.
We know that's a lie.
Thanks for finding that chart. Where was it on WP?

The Signal leak by Trump's crew

https://www.npr.org/2025/03/25/nx-s1-5339753/signal-war-plan-breach-security-experts An inadvertent (?) WMF connection: NPR disclosure: Katherine Maher, the CEO of NPR, chairs the board of the Signal Foundation. The princess does get around, eh? And how is WP covering this? https://en.wikipedia.org/...

Re: Admin gets recalled in a day, Admins lament the loss wondering if they are next

"It's a heckin admin genocide!" They got serious (again) about purging inactive admins in 2019 and bigtime in 2023, when the criteria were tightened. The first major purge was in 2011-12. For about ten years, a few hundred inactive admins "skated by" and were tolerated, by doing the barest minimum ...

Re: Admin gets recalled in a day, Admins lament the loss wondering if they are next

Good. If there's an actual "rule" now, I hope they start purging some of the worst ones. Because in the past there were no procedures for desysop, it was a "popularity/unpopularity contest" with copious backstabbing and psychological warfare happening in IRC or elsewhere. Remember the deranged shits...
