Re: The WMF is experimenting with AIs, and that will lead to bad places
look at what a battle the self-driving car is Human driven cars are already about 4900% more deadly than, say, for example, rail. They are incredibly, absurdly unsafe by design, AI can't help something so fundamentally flawed in the next few hundred years. If the speed limit is reduced to something...

Re: AI lays another Wiki-Egg
You didn't read the links in my post; Zitron goes to great lengths to explain that AI is a replacement for the failed NFT experiment and the general cryptocurrency scam. The amounts of money these projects are absorbing are enormous and it will all be for products NOBODY wants. It will probably sin...

Music business in 2025: country music promoting casual sex and romantics wearily conceding culture wars for escape
If you haven't noticed, rap is gone for the billboard top 10 to an unusual extent, and for quite a while. I for one am happy about that. However, it's been replaced by country that extends the depressive, myopic musical harmonies and rhythms of the past 4 years. Despite what I'm about to comment on,...

Re: AI lays another Wiki-Egg
The truth about AI (at least the LLM version of it) is.....it's a giant waste of time. Ed Zitron has gone to excruciating detail in multiple articles explaining how ChatGPT , OpenAI and the rest are an endless money-sink producing products NOBODY (but scammers and lazy high school or college studen...

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
Fascism, in any meaningful sense, involves suppression of dissent by the state and its media and citizenry organs with brutal enforcement. What we have instead is a bizarre system where dissent against a nominally authoritarian federal government is widely monetized, tweeted, algorithmically boosted...

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
According to Redditors, Wikipedia admins, Rationalwiki regulars, and large swaths of the Democratic Party, we are currently living under fascism. Fascism!. You may not have noticed because, yea it's not happening. Living under fascism would seem to provoke dramatic action no?, not just statements he...

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
Musk leaves, DOGE gets re-staffed by literal, confirmed MMT economist fans who don't give a shit about the debt. And Trump returns to his good old self on debt/deficts "The debt limit should be entirely scrapped to avoid economic catastrophe" https://i.imgur.com/DdYaZdM.png https://truthsocial.com/@...

Re: Other online encyclopedias
There are at least 46,380 active wikis, a majority of which attempt to be an encyclopedia about some topic or many topics. You can browse them here https://wikiapiary.com/wiki/Main_Page or on WikiIndex in more detail Attempts to replace Wikipedia at its own game using its own software will likely fa...

Re: Do not frequent some certain default subs if you don't wanna get banned while criticizing Wikipedia on Reddit
That list extends way beyond that list. There's a certain segment of communities who have become less marginalized, and who have great admiration for Wikipedia because they feel they stand up for them or tickle their fancy. This includes a wide variety of (heavily overlapping) communities of weebs, ...

Re: Experiences with RationalWiki and MetaPedia?
I think the regulars on there consider themselves centrists. Even people marginally left to them, like social democrats, get run off the wiki. One of the biggest fights on the wiki involved someone getting ostrasized, and that person started "socdem wiki". That doesn't mean they don't like to postur...
