Smiley's sudden greening is likely due to his living in the same timezone as a remarkably regular outlaw whose (borrowed) body was latterly thrown down from the top floor of the WPO clubhouse. Writing about the first acts of this drama was locked up in the poem-cellar for a future auction / WPO rumm...
