Turkish government blocking Wikipedia, and Signpost is dead

Because no one else is doing it--not even the media.

Every day is Amateur Day on Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016%E2%8 ... ish_purges

The purges also extend to the media with television channels, newspapers and other press outlets getting shut down, journalists getting arrested and Wikipedia getting blocked since April 2017.[19][20][21][22][23]

A 13-year-old boy would say "getting" instead of "being" or "having been".

Deeply involved in all this: someone called Yug, who proudly announces on his userpage that he's a "Wikipedian with Asperger syndrome". I suspect he's Chinese and his English is very broken; and he likes to make maps. And now he is a "world expert" on the Turkish purges. Thanks to WP, where brainless enthusiasm is far more important than ability.

He doesn't seem drama-prone which is refreshing. If he ever gets blocked he's going to have a hell of a withdrawal.

I finally finished an item for the book wiki about the Signpost. New issues came out this summer, but on a far less consistent schedule than before. Yes, it appears that Lane Rasberry is an "editor", along with an obscure Australian called "Evad37". Pete Forsyth disappeared after posting the 6 February issue. Gosh I wonder why.

Sidenote: Forsyth has been a "consultant" to Consumers Union on Wikipedia matters. As you probably know, Rasberry is a Consumers Union employee and their "Wikipedian In Residence", nope nothing suspicious about that.

Yeah, Evad came out of nowhere and now he's the savior of The Signpost. I think Forsyth cleaned off his talk page somewhat recently, but doesn't seem to have clarified what's up with he EiC gig.
