He writes as if it's something new. Honestly I feel i'm right when I believe that to notice the daily conflicts on Wikipedia you'd have to be an active editor.

Even people reporting on Wikipedia have little or no idea how the system there works. Laziness, lack of information or just plain ignorance? Also strange coming at a time and date when Wikipedia is eighteen years old.

I had the same discussion with The Devils Advocate on Dysk his Discord. And he brought up don't forget Wikipedia is a journalists best friend. The structure is very opaque and complex, it cost a lot of study to understand the real structure of wikipedia. Or better the complete leak of structure. It is one big chaos with all those local wiki's, Arbcom, Meta, the chaotic WMF.
It is also the power of WMF. Because no journalist understand WMF inside, only a few self made experts does.
