The "Democraric Union Party" and WP

For information, the DUP is a Northern Irish minor party in UK elections with connections to evangelical extremists. The latest election forces the Tories to form a coalition--with the DUP as "allies". Bad idea but whatever--IMO UK politics are just as broken as US politics.

Now for the Wikipedia comedy:

"DUP Wikipedia page locked to stop people pointing out the party doesn’t believe in dinosaurs"
In one edit, a user tried to write: ‘The “Democratic Unionist Party” (“DUP”) is an anti-abortion, pro-Catholic bashing, anti-gay political party.’ Another wrote: ‘DUP’s core beliefs include unwavering opposition homosexuality and abortion, and that dinosaurs don’t exist. They believe their bones were placed there by prehistoric homosexuals with nationalist agendas to fool the “right thinking” people.’ And a user tried to write: ‘They also believe that dinosaurs are not real. They are religious fundamentalists who believe that the earth was created by two fictional characters.’ The edits appear to have been reversed before the page was locked down.

And sure enough, this article got little attention, until today. Then an editwar broke out, with about 120 edits just in the last 12 hours. If you've got plenty of time you could pick thru this and figure out the political agendas of the various players---to me it's just a load of petty screeching. Will be forgotten in 2 days.

At least a few of them were actually funny.

Sadly "Keshidragon" was blocked for it by that humorless nerd El_C. Who had previously protected the article for 3 days; yet someone removed it and the fighting continued.

Ulster is still crazy-train. And someone there is fiddling while Wikipedia burns.

And that's not all the DUP fun we're getting today:

"Pulls out". Lol.

Would Irish Alison be in that brawl and would she be throwing punches? As far as I can tell, she believes in witches, so I guess that puts her in the anti camp.

You are wrong about the bigger picture: I don't think any country's politics in the anglo-phone world are broken. We're like Professor Jones in the Temple of Doom, hurtling down a narrow railway track in a coal bucket, and the bad dudes with funny accents and stranger manners are trying to knock us off the track into rivers of lava, but we keep hanging in there because - well what's the alternative? We're the good guys and good guys always win. Have faith. It's just another period of readjustment that's all.

Even Wales edited purportedly to make the article conform to a source.

Alison did make one revert.
