another Sarah Stierch ass-lick on front page of Slashdot

Because no one else is doing it--not even the media.

another Sarah Stierch ass-lick on front page of Slashdot

This comment, yeah baby:
Looks like Tim Berners-Lee's job is actually producing a lot of hot air. He's a distraction from issues on the WWW that matter & he's encouraging people to make empty gestures instead of actually doing something effective about them.

I'm glad the Wikimedia Foundation are (very politely) calling him out on his bullshit.
So, Wikipedians are so fucking arrogant, they are willing to publicly attack the guy who created the World Wide Web (and made their stupid project possible) in the first place. Hmm.

another post Sarah made today:

https://news.slashdot.org/story/19/12/2 ... l-security

Some of the commenters are furious that this "blatant left-wing bias" is on the front page of their favorite nerd website. Ha ha. If only those zoomers knew her history.
How did this highly partisan factually challenged article ever get approved to be posted? The article is blatant flamebait and only the most partisan of of people could read this and think that it has any factual basis. This has nothing to do with science or technology, can we please try to keep the trolls to the comments and not the stories themselves? This one was bad, even by Slashdot standards this was really bad.

Eric, one of the problems of intelligence and the collection of knowledge (by which I mean real knowledge, fact) is that the ability to communicate to the masses -- or even sometimes to individuals -- can be lost.

Here, to make any sense of what you have written, I first need to set aside the reactive "ass-lick" in the headline, I need to know who Sarah Stierch is -- and I don't, though I will look -- and I also need to believe that msmash is Stierch. The first story, itself, looks like simple journalism.

So the next problem is that we accumulate reaction to what we have researched, and, if we are not careful, we will communicate the reaction -- which is about us, not fact in itself -- instead of the facts which others would need to understand the situation. This can be difficult to avoid -- because people will infer reaction from facts reported -- but it is possible.

The second msmash post is just a copy of another article, with cogent editorial commentary.

To provide background: https://wikipediocracy.com/2014/01/16/f ... rch-story/. Still struggling to understand "ass-lick."

And then Collida herself is reactive. Calling the Stierch wikipedia biography "vanity" seems to be misleading, unless Stierch wrote it, which appears unlikely (though not impossible).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... omination)

By the way, COI "editing" is not prohibited by policy, if "editing" has the ordinary meaning of working on a draft or document to improve it. It is publishing those edits on one's own initiative on Wikipedia, using an account, and without disclosure of the COI, that is against policy. I have been paid to edit wikitext for clients. I have never violated COI policies.

dunno what to say, except there is a very long article in the book-wiki notes about Stierch. Her "career" was a classic example of narcissism combined with a talent for talking Wikipedians into supporting her. I suspect "msmash" on Slashdot is her.

When I get that prepped, I'll link to the page. However, at this point, this is light on fact and heavy on story. I get that you have a low opinion of her.

(Folks, the book wiki documents are being uploaded to wikitop.cc, by permission. If anyone would like to help with this project, PM me. Trolls will be roasted and served for snacks. What I'm doing is checking all the references and archiving them where it seems prudent, before publishing the pages. Stuff Disappears When Cited, sometimes. Some of this stuff is truly fascinating.)

Not often noted: Slashdot continues to be a popular place for Wikipedians. Current and former. Because they can shitpost under handles and no one is the wiser. Unless they don't care.....

"This may be an overzealous spam filter at work," Slashdot reader JoshuaZ had argued.
For those who weren't watching Wikipedia during its 2005-2010 "peak years", Josh Zelinsky was one of the worst administrators in their history. A literal walking stereotype of an extreme nerd. Supported Durova blindly even after she went off a cliff, AND spent untold hours harassing Daniel Brandt. Using his real name only made it that much more embarrassing. Consider the time he ran for Arbcom in 2007.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... te/JoshuaZ

After that, Greg Kohs nailed him for abusive sockpuppeting. Have some clear proof that the Wiki-Turds possess very thin skins and DO read criticisms of their idiocies posted on "evil forums". Josh surrendered his adminship and has kept a low profile since then.

Hard to argue with that:

[Wikipedia is] a stupid video game, and the "encyclopedia" is an accidental byproduct.
