Did Fottrell edit his own bio? You bet.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... blinTalbot

In 2021, "someone else" chopped it down in size considerably:

You'd think he was "important" or something.

Afro Surrealism or Surreal Africans (not sure) but the "self published" shiznit pamphlet (by D Scot Miller) is hitting the administrator notice board fan

@Afrosurreal Author of The AfroSurreal Manifesto, Columnist at San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
"I am the Founder of the Afrosurreal Arts Movement through my publication of The Afrosurreal Manifesto in The San Francisco Bay Guardian in May, 2009. This Wiki page does nothing to hide that truth, and your "ban" does nothing to deny that fact. You, like Spencer and several others, are more than welcome to continue to attempt rewriting history. After 14 years of failed attempts, I've stopped paying attention, and the world knows the truth even as your kind continue to try. Have at it." - Mac address sock of D Scot Miller
We have a wikipedia vanity page (allegedly written by a student of D Scott Miller) based on a xeroxed pamphlet http://benblount.com/afrosurreal-manifesto which claims black is the newblack and banters around whack-a-doodle Negritude.. (can you actually say that, well nigger me that! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigger, yes Wikipedia has negritude covered) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%A9gritude
Bleats for help in cleaning up "the surreal mess that article is" How about just deleting its sorry black ass (can you say that)

As mentioned Wikipedia is embarrassing itself every day.. perhaps "Levar Burton at Wikipedia needs to get back to his roots" Kunta Kinte

(this post is written under EOO 3.4 licence and safe harbor - for equal opportunity offenders - who will offend anyone and everyone of all races, religions, and sexual preferences equally; and thus bear no offense to anyone.. ).

In follow up (a very crap) article about a really great and influential artist.. The Wikipedia article is just not meaningful (it is a cut and paste goop of links)

A poor quality article is what you would expect from a "Wiki Education Foundation-supported course assignment" which translates into to a "hunt for URL's." They could not talk about Colescott looking down within his own paintings, making fun of "the white-ning" of soul food, or the implications of Washington Carver crossing the Delaware - Analysis and thinking about the artwork/artist itself is against Wikipedia's rules. (No Original Research but narrative framing is OK.) It is totally embarrassing..

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Colescott

Much better

https://www.artforum.com/print/reviews/ ... cott-81080
“What I did was to take something that is admirable, mess it up, and make you question everything that the artwork stood for.” Robert Colescott
https://www.sothebys.com/en/buy/auction ... ?locale=en

His work traveled to my local museum in a show entitled "Art and Race Matters" and it was outstanding... (his work might be considered today as offensive which in turn has many deleterious ramifications.)

They Wanted A Wikipedia Page’: Oklahoma Brothers Murdered Family To Become Famous, Cops Say
Robert and Michael Bever stabbed their parents and siblings and then planned to commit mass shootings.
New Article
https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/ ... s-cops-say
"They wanted to kill at least 50 people, they wanted to be famous. They wanted a Wikipedia page. They wanted media coverage," said Detective Rhianna Russell, who had interviewed Michael Bever. She said he indicated that they wanted to outdo known killers, and had mentioned the Columbine school and Aurora movie theater killings in Colorado in particular.

Wikipedia as a motivation for the murders.. nope not in the Wikipedia article... (it has been "Wikipedia has been white washed") crickets on Wikipedia as a murder motive.

I would expect no less. An obsessively detailed article, except about the motives of the killers. (Who got what they wanted after all, and seriously, does anyone think they would care if the WP article mentions their motives or not?)

The article itself is "not encyclopedic" in any way or form.. in the old days newspaper archives would be relegated to "microfiche" in a library

-Wikipedia cannot
---have an article where Wikipedia is the rationalization for murder
---say that Brianna WU is trans, they can say that "they" are fighting against the systemic bias against women in programming. They can say that WU ran for congress, they cannot say that "they only garnered" 20K votes in a primary.
---cannot have an article about a woman school teacher that was sentenced as a sex offender and now is a porn-star-stripper

Editors care about Wikipedia content too much, too little, or not at all..

The "content engine" at Wikipedia is a ghost town relative to the body of work that has to be maintained... and there are disincentives to correct content in terms of context, weighting, truth, and even grammar (Wu).

The toxic social network people we talk about including HJ Mitchell will remain on Wikipedia as "readers/customers" replace Wikipedia by shifting their consumption to computer written content (with concentrated control).

NEVER ever assume Wikipedia "policies" quoted in an editwar or AFD are sane or rational. Or that they even exist.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birmingham_pub_bombings

This article seems to think prattling on about a slight* miscarriage of justice is more important than actually covering the facts of the case. Surely it is a greater miscarriage of justice that the knuckledraggers who killed 21 people in a fit of ideological pique were never punished.

*I say slight because the so-called Birmingham 6 brought it upon themselves by associating with members of the organization that was responsible and I cannot say I feel any sympathy for them at all.

I can neither confirm nor deny. :?

In all honesty though, I'm not, I just think people have their priorities skewed.
