i have spoken to a few people who claim they were able to get Wikipedia to delete articles about them - one around 2010, the other about 2005. both could be considered "fringe"-ish political characters, especially given Wikipedia's ever-widening definition of "fringe," so it is theoretically possible the articles merely fell victim to Wikipedia's neverending quest for mainstream respectability via purging all dissenting opinions (though even Fringe-hunters tend to like to leave the smears up rather than delete the articles entirely). but i'm wondering if management has ever interceded on an article subject's behalf to remove an article, & if so, when they stopped doing so (the official line now seems to be pride in their imperviousness to libel suits).

Daniel Brandt is the prototypical example. You have to basically raise hell, otherwise you have no chance really. Jim Hawkins (radio presenter) is a good example of it not succeeding. I can't believe Wikipedia has ever deleted a biography of fringe person without a seriously good reason, typically a legal threat - they tend to keep these articles around as a way to discredit the person. There would literally have to be no mention of them in anything coming close to a reliable source, to get deleted, and in that case they would probably do so to prevent the person gaining attention, not out of any scholarly (or indeed humane) concern. But as soon as they do, the name of the game is to destroy it using Wikipedia's preferential Google rank.

Greg Kohs too. At least in the peak days (2005 to 2008), it was ROUTINE for insiders to create an abusive biography of a Wikipedia critic, simply to piss on that person. It's all incredibly disgusting and seamy. And none of those VILE and PETTY little bastards will admit they did these things, or even discuss the subject. ... nomination) ... iel+Brandt ... _wheel_war ... nomination)
