I have banned Wikipedia from my web searches

Post by wexter » Thu Dec 03, 2020 11:01 pm

I may be the only individual on earth who has banned wikipedia from my Google search results. All it takes is a "-wikipedia.org" appended to a Google search query either directly or via a macro.

moon rocks -wikipedia.org

Google seems to be totally intertwined to Wikipedia. There does not seem to be a simple way to blacklist Wikipedia.

George Washington -wikipedia.org
Yields - The White House (.gov)

Vs

FIVE huge interactive boxes from wikipedia : is Google in cahoots with Wikipe-distopia?

Wikipedia is fired! Thank God, Gone for good.

fruit -wikipedia.org

Oh man the results are good.
The Internet is actually useful again

covid -wikipedia.org

See the difference for yourself
-Nytimes.com and wikipedia partnership is gone! Hallelujah

john ford -wikipedia.org

Some of Wikipedia tripe trolls its way past the search exclusion in the form of clickbait questions- advertising to direct you to wikipedia (being one of several sites using what most be a Google tool or ad product)
Wikipedia - "Barely competent and paranoid. There’s a hell of a combination."

the current theory is that browser programmers are "told" to make sure there's no way the browser can be set up to automatically exclude certain search results. The search engines certainly would not like it.
