Bigoted Wikipedia editors refuse to acknowledge living person's pronoun choices in their infobox

Good, bad, biased, paid or what-have-you. There's an endless supply.

Bigoted Wikipedia editors refuse to acknowledge living person's pronoun choices in their infobox

Doesn't this just sum up the hostile environment that is Wikipedia?

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... ox_person?

Apparently, multiple attempts to include pronoun choice as a parameter in the infobox of biographies, have been rejected. The infobox is the silly box in the top left of a page that lists all the other basic and important stuff about a person, like date and place of birth.

It is worth noting that just because it is included as a parameter, doesn't mean it has to be displayed. I.e., this wouldn't lead to 99.9999% of Wikipedia biographies uselesslly declaring the heteronormative pronouns. Leave it blank, and it wouldn't even display.

Just like date of death doesn't display, if they're not actually dead. Although worth noting there are of course lots of people considered to be dead in one language Wikipedia, but who are alive in another. Just one of the many downsides of people thinking you can assemble an encyclopedia out of unicorn farts. You get what you pay for, which in this case, is monkey shit.

Speaking of which, the underlying reason for this refusal to demonstrate they acknowledge the existence of minorities and want to cater for the increasingly common practice of them specifying their pronouns, is of course, because Wikipedia is a haven for bullies, of which bigots are just an interesting subset.

The bullies would have you believe nobody wants to know this information at a glance, or that somehow it isn't possible to know it with any certainty. Which is of course, just so much bigoted garbage.

It would be interesting to see what might happen if the LGBT community started a campaign to force Amazon/Google, who are paying millions of dollars for the privilege of being able to serve up information gleaned from Wikipedia's infoboxes, to do something about this outrage against their basic dignity.

I agree. it's another example of Wikipedia's extreme right-wing anti-LBGTQ+ bias.

Don't suppose you've seen how Netflix is starting to market shows with non-binary actors? Everyone wants to get on the "virtue signal happy train". Usually for marketing reasons, Wikipedia doesn't count for shit anyway.
