Wikipedia's article on sadist figurehead, genuine rape advocate, and abuser of prostitutes reads like fanfiction

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marquis_de_Sade

The article paints Marquis as a kooky revolutionary who , "only beat a housemaid", with no other crimes, no non-consensual activities, and with a life plagued by random imprisoning. The talk page is even more wild in it's dismissals.

Their talk page implies virtually everyone who accused him, from beggars, to prostitutes, were just unenlightened liars until proven otherwise. And that convictions never happened until proven otherwise. (Almost all comprehensive books on Marquis address his abuse, bribes to get out scot-free, and subsequent convictions, they're playing dumb)
Your factual assertions here aren’t verified. That first source is not a good source at all to use. Where does that book say he intentionally slipped prostitutes Spanish Fly to make them ill? I don’t see it in the link you provided. You need to have particular page numbers and quotes for verification purposes. Pn[...](talk) 05:06, 10 June 2021 (UTC).

He was repeatedly accused and more than once convicted of sexual assault or abuse against others. So yes, there is evidence of this. Mc[....] (talk) 17:35, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

[Your source is bad], therefore we *cannot* investigate the empirical veracity of these claims. Pn[...] (talk) 03:32, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
The insinuation in main that Marquis was a misunderstood innocent, unfairly treated by the legal system every time, comes partially from a fringe anarchy propaganda book, which describes marquis as a "bold thinker". Its the same citation used in the main article about Marquis and the law.

Lets see what reliable sources have to say

Hmm... desperate attempts to plead insanity, bribes to the relevant prostitutes he poisoned, aided by friends

OK, so "Hitler was not a nice man!"
What is interesting to me is that the word Sadism is not included in the run on sentence.

As some trolling advise I would make the case in Wikipedia talk that insiders, paid by the de Sade family, have influenced this article You can quote the Smithsonian article below or edit the entry accordingly. Notice how "sane" Britanica" and then "Thoughtco" biographies are in comparison to Wankerpeesiadysporia is. In talk I would point out how insane the entry is by citing the alternatives; this would drive the wankers nuts and get you blocked.

Britannica

Marquis de Sade, byname of Donatien-Alphonse-François, Comte de Sade, (born June 2, 1740, Paris, France—died December 2, 1814, Charenton, near Paris), French nobleman whose perverse sexual preferences and erotic writings gave rise to the term sadism. His best-known work is the novel Justine (1791).

Wookie-pedians

Donatien Alphonse François, Marquis de Sade (French: [dɔnasjɛ̃ alfɔ̃z fʁɑ̃swa maʁki də sad]; 2 June 1740 – 2 December 1814), was a French nobleman, revolutionary politician, philosopher and writer famous for his libertine sexuality. His works include novels, short stories, plays, dialogues, and political tracts. In his lifetime some of these were published under his own name while others, which de Sade denied having written, appeared anonymously. De Sade is best known for his erotic works, which combined philosophical discourse with pornography, depicting sexual fantasies with an emphasis on violence, suffering, anal sex (which he calls sodomy), crime, and blasphemy against Christianity. He was a proponent of absolute freedom, unrestrained by morality, religion, or law.

and it goes on and on and on and on, and then and then and then and then

A Smithsonian Article

The Count de Sade, the modern descendant of the Marquis de Sade, whose rabid erotic works inspired the term sadism for sexual cruelty, resides in a sunny and strikingly decorated apartment on a quiet residential street on the Right Bank of Paris.

the Sade family dedicated itself to vindicating the memory of its forgotten ancestor, mounting a crusade that coincided with the loosening of censorship in France in the 1950s. Sade’s work became widely available in the rebellious ’60s, and the door opened for the once-disgraced marquis to become France’s most decadent cultural hero, a frenzied aristocratic libertine who is now hailed by some as a literary genius and martyr for freedom.

The following site has a "sane" biography of TMDS written by an amateur contributor.

https://www.thoughtco.com/marquis-de-sa ... hy-4174361

The Marquis de Sade (born Donatien Alphonse François de Sade; June 2, 1740—December 2, 1814) was infamous for his sexually charged writings, his revolutionary politics, and his life as one of France’s most notorious libertines. His writing often focused on violent sexual practices, and his name gives us the word sadism, which refers to pleasure derived from inflicting pain.

and then

In addition to giving us the word sadism, de Sade also left behind a legacy of existential thought; many philosophers credit him with using violence and sexuality to create imagery that demonstrates man's capacity for both good and evil. It is believed that his work had significant influence on the writings of nineteenth-century philosophers like like Flaubert, Voltaire, and Nietzsche.

wasting your time.....Axel Boldt, one of WP's earliest administrators, has considerable love for the Marquis. Which means this article is on various watchlists. Please don't tell us you're "shocked" that the Wiki libertarians think the Marquis was a "cool guy".

I seem to have incurred the wrath of Yamla

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Yamla

After reading your article from 2015 this is my conclusion;

Wikipedia is an important, or most important, profit center for Google.
Wikipedia is a large part of the Google search engine

--50-70% of the worlds search requests get fed into Wikipedia as first or second recommended search result with no opt out.
-The size of the database is most important - 55 Million pages - sadly small in terabytes - but its cost effective as text not video
-The connectivity within the Wikipeida pages is also important to google search
-The platform is Content agnostic - it does not matter what is in those 55 Million pages; right or wrong, important or not
-50-70% of the worlds search traffic needs to go somewhere, and have users create their own entertainment is cheap
-The content provides entertainment

It really is a callous arrangement

-Useful idiots are free employees generating nonsense - and they hide behind a bizarre and byzantine culture
-Wikipedia WMF is the patsy or front operation for google which gets to keep a clean reputation
-Wikipedia is front for WMF which can raise billions with no culpability and as such they are judgement proof
-The American public gets free entertainment, small sources of real information disappear over time
-There is no way to opt out of Wikipedia even though Britannica and other sources of better information exist - google has placed Wikipedia alternatives on ignore

Only a masochist would participate with sadists of Wikipedia; behind the curtain the real problem is google.

BTW accumulating 1/2 a billion on the vig is not bad for a "non-profit" organization that only has to spend a few million a year to operate, quite a bit can be done to lobby, raise funds, and skim from this nest egg. A criminal organization at best. But all that grift is just a sideline compared to our friends at google. Section 230 (and other government initiatives) allow these bastards to operate with impunity.

PS I called up WMF and they have the audacity;
1) To categorize themselves as a small non-profit
2) To disavow any responsibility for content or management of their work product
