Can we all agree one thing: that WP:NOTNEWS is a stinking lie?

Because the Palisades fire is still burning as I write this, and will probably burn for a couple more days. And it is practically guaranteed that more deaths will be recorded, since whole neighborhoods were evacuated and blocked off. It will take weeks for officials to examine every burned structure. Death toll is currently 5.

And if Wikipedia is NOTNEWS, and they claim WP is not a "celebrity gossip tabloid", then why does the fire's article contain a very long quote by actor Steve Guttenberg? Lots of entertainment people are losing their homes in this fire--because they tend to cluster around West LA, Beverly Hills, Pacific Palisades, and Malibu. You'd have to ask these "famous people" why they own massive homes in this notoriously fire-prone mountain area.

Because it takes the least research to churn out Wikipedia articles on ongoing news subjects and the eye-catching glitter garbage elements of an event like this ("Steve Gutenberg's house burned down and he wrote a multi-paragraph rant on it!") float to the top. With Right-wingers now allegedly swearing to "clean up" en.Wikipedia for Israel, be prepared for more media excuses on why Wikipedia looks like it does in 2025, when the online Encyclopedia Britannica more closely resembles an actual online encyclopedia than Jimbo's Jungle does.
Still "Globally Banned" on Wikipedia for the high crime of journalism.

And a badly-written AUTOBIOGRAPHY of the week.......

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alok_Vaid-Menon

too obvious

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... parkersong
Alok's aunt was Urvashi Vaid, an LGBT rights activist, lawyer, and writer.[38]
ref #38 is a link to his personal site. i dont doubt him tho. his aunt was also self-important and useless.
sometime in the last month, the blog post was deleted, leaving the claim about Urvashi Vaid cited to a dead URL.

The Guttenberg quote was reduced in length, but it is now preceded by this.
Numerous celebrities lost homes in the fire, including Jeff Bridges, Adam Brody and Leighton Meester, Michael Connelly, Denise Crosby, Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes, Max Emerson, Anna Faris, Mel Gibson, John Goodman, Jennifer Grey, Paris Hilton, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Ricki Lake, Larry LaLonde, Eugene Levy, Cameron Mathison, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt, Rosie O'Donnell, JJ Redick, Melissa Rivers, Candy Spelling, Miles Teller, Milo Ventimiglia and Diane Warren.

Remember this from last year?

The Hybrid vehicle article has similar jabber, not to mention poor sourcing, outdated sections, and a LOT of repetition. This HAS to be the result of bot editing. Stupid bastards don't know or care that their bots are generating hash.

Under "Vehicle types":
In 1978 students at Minneapolis, Minnesota's Hennepin Vocational Technical Center, converted a Volkswagen Beetle to a petro-hydraulic hybrid with off-the shelf components. A car rated at 32 mpg was returning 75 mpg with the 60 hp engine replaced by a 16 hp engine, and reached 70 mph.[19]

In the 1990s, engineers at EPA's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory developed a petro-hydraulic powertrain for a typical American sedan car. The test car achieved over 80 mpg on combined EPA city/highway driving cycles. Acceleration was 0-60 mph in 8 seconds, using a 1.9-liter diesel engine. No lightweight materials were used. The EPA estimated that produced in high volumes the hydraulic components would add only $700 to the cost.[20] Under EPA testing, a hydraulic hybrid Ford Expedition returned 32 mpg (7.4 L/100 km) City, and 22 mpg (11 L/100 km) highway.[20][21] UPS currently has two trucks in service using this technology.[22]
And also under "Engine type".
A group of students at Minneapolis, Minnesota's Hennepin Vocational Technical Center, converted a Volkswagen Beetle car to run as a petro-hydraulic hybrid using off-the-shelf components. A car rated at 32 mpg‑US (7.4 L/100 km; 38 mpg‑imp) was returning 75 mpg‑US (3.1 L/100 km; 90 mpg‑imp) with the 60 hp engine replaced by a 16 hp engine. The experimental car reached 70 mph (110 km/h).[19]

In the 1990s, a team of engineers working at EPA's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory succeeded in developing a revolutionary type of petro-hydraulic hybrid powertrain that would propel a typical American sedan car. The test car achieved over 80 mpg on combined EPA city/highway driving cycles. Acceleration was 0-60 mph in 8 seconds, using a 1.9 L diesel engine. No lightweight materials were used. The EPA estimated that produced in high volumes the hydraulic components would add only $700 to the base cost of the vehicle.[20]

Barry Humphries has had an alleged slur in his bio since October 24, 2024:
The current usage of “transgenderism” arises from anti-trans extremists who seek to delegitimize and dehumanize trans people by implying that being trans is an ideology rather than an identity. (See here for a longer history of the term’s usage.)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sack%E2%8 ... s_syndrome

Can't decide whether to call it "Sack-Barabas syndrome" or "Ehlers–Danlos syndrome". A very bad genetic disease, and Wikipedia offers a pile of hash in the way of "information". This was never unusual for medical articles either--and the tradition continues.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoh_Rainforest

In the first paragraph:
The rainforest receives an average of 140 inches (360 cm) of annual precipitation
And in "Climate":
Hoh Rainforest is the wettest forest in the Contiguous United States, receiving 129 inches (3,300 mm) of rain per year.
WHICH IS IT??
