Crap or questionable articles

Good, bad, biased, paid or what-have-you. There's an endless supply.

You should tell that story someday.

I've got another criticism of a WP list. This time, YouTuber Doug DeMuro and friends tears into the "Production car speed record" article.

Look at the talkpage. For years, people have brought up these same issues--and they were all fought off by a few pedantic nimrods.

Most of all, an Aussie shitbird called Stepho-wrs. He's obsessed with Toyotas. I do NOT see any evidence that he can be called a "recognized expert" on this particular subject.

"References"? What "references"?

Such wonderful quality! (translated from de-WP, badly as usual)

BLP stub that contains nothing more than the most trivially biographical and career information to the point that highlights from an internet search would probably yield more. Also one of the worst portraits I have seen on enwiki.

The Bipolar encoding article would be an adequate, if short, subject item.

Yet it falls down badly on describing where bipolar signaling actually originated. Because we know exactly how it came into being. It was invented by William Thomson, Lord Kelvin, for use on the 1858 transatlantic telegraph cable. His "double-curb transmitter" device sent two pulses of opposite polarity, instead of a single polarity pulse, to cancel out the massive capacitance of the cable and allow a higher transmission speed.

The damn thing isn't even mentioned in the Lord Kelvin article. Except in passing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Kelv ... ntic_cable
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_curb_sender
That article has existed since 2009 yet almost no one looks at it. Tagged for lack of citations in 2009, what a nice bonus!

This is what happens when you let random people randomly write a "reference work". You get a partial picture of anything that isn't fanboy cruft. Obscure or not, bipolar signaling was an important development in telegraphy.

You know damn well there's more to this story. Multiple organizations were involved. Why does it deserve only a miserable little stub? Mentioned because the news today is full of reports of the $120,000 bribe offered to a juror.

Do I really need to drop more "references"?

Still one of the DUMBEST articles I've ever seen on en-WP. Created in 2004 by the notorious Node ue, heavily edited by some guy from Malta, and protected for years by Will Beback. Dickless wonders.

Someone should tell the Wiki-shits something: Intel completely abandoned the Rapid Boot project many years ago. Instead they now have RST, a similar concept but totally different scheme.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapid_Boot

apparently replaced by

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Rap ... Technology

You want links?? Ha ha. Ask Intel to stop obfuscating things first.

This Commons aspie-poo, from the UK (obviously!), is making maps. Bad maps.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Hogweard

Some of the worst maps I've ever seen. And they are spreading everywhere on WMF projects--because very few people can be bothered to make maps for article illustrations. The Amateur Paradise of WP continues its long march into stupidity.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File ... ngland.svg
The red is the west riding of Yorkshire. But the north ridng and east riding are almost the same color. Why? And why even bother showing them as different colors, if the purpose is to show the west riding?

Hogweard also made a long list of maps like this, showing countries "in relation to the UK". No one uses them on any project, because they're FUCKING STUPID MAPS. Some Brits might think the UK are the "centre of the world" but they aren't, got it?
