Unblocked, by an Administrator I had literally never heard of, who has only ever made one unblock before, and in a nine year career as an Administrator has yet to even make 150 edits to AN/I.

This has all the hallmarks of someone being dragged in to do something no other Administrator wanted to do, because they don't want to be remembered as the person who screwed up by carrying ultimate responsibility for letting Sashi back in.

It says a lot that they had to do this, because to those who don't know what's going on, who do not know why certain Administrators are supporting his cause, this looked like an easy decision to make for any Administrator, no real pause for thought required.

It will puzzle those people as to why the more familiar Administrators with a reputation for seizing on opportunities like this to be seen as benevolent without any cost to themselves, did not close it. They see the potential cost. They see what is going on here. They can predict Bishonen et al blaming them personally if and when Sashi screws up. This parachute Administrator likely does not. He may not even care if she would, being outside the orbit of her influence.

Predictably, Sashi has been unblocked with no conditions or specific warnings to do or not do something, nor any reference to any of their specific personal undertakings, just the rather redundant reminder that people will be watching him for any mistake. This shows what this all about, this is probably exactly what this parachute Administrator was told to say. This leaves Bishonen at al maximum leeway to fuck him up in future.

Sashi won't have the first idea what people expect of him, and that is the whole point. They claim to have acted to correct an injustice, when in reality all they have done is create the conditions where another one can be committed in due time, hopefully after Sashi has been made to pay reparations for being a critic, an exposer of their true natures, by contributing to the cause.

Very sick stuff, this.

Quite sad that they either think we are too stupid to see it, or are powerless to do anything about it.

Some needs to give these idiots a copy of The Art of War.

And of course, Wikipediocracy will be wanting their money's worth too. Having served his first purpose as a PR victory, he will now be persuaded, pressured, induced or outright instructed that he is their man on the inside now. If there is something needing doing that the likes of the other Wikipedian members of Wikipedioracy thinks is too risky to be attached to their account, they're going to get the pledge to do it. And Tarantino will be shaking him down for email addresses etc.

Sashi won't want to be Wikipediocracy's tool, he really isn't that kind of guy, but he has put himself in that position by putting himself in their debt, even going so far as to claim they have given him some good advice. Yeah. Because that's what they do. He may not even be allowed to post here anymore. The sight of wannabe Wikipediocracy ArbCom mole 28Bytes thanking the parachute Administrator for doing the right thing, was a scene straight out of The Sopranos.

Farewell, sweet Sashi. Be safe, mon amie.

;)

I think it's Greyed out fields over at WPO who has the byline "I am your guilty pleasure". You are mine. People probably consider me a hypocrite to be against vulgarity on en.wp but to turn a blind eye to it when you (or even genderdesk, or...) refuse to self-censor. I don't. I see it; I just don't see it as being what's most interesting. I landed at WS-1 originally because of the long thread on Dennis Brown IIRC. I'm glad you've been loyal to WS/ED. Together, and with help from a lot of other people, I think we helped revitalize criticism for a while, though I'm aware that it is nowhere near completely recovered. But now, I am -- indeed -- compromised. I've tasted the wixycontin: I made a minor unnecessary fix on the Atlantic Council (donator --> donor) and then realized my name was on the article, and as such I was responsible for having read it and not cleaned it up some. Hours later, after finding plenty of approximations and a clear mistake, I think I had "fixed" three or four short sentences and deleted one. That little crowsnest atop my personal steering committee now has been infected with the idea that if you touch an article you have to look through all of it. I didn't even manage to clean up a tiny section in many hours.

Was my life enriched by that sunken time? The jury is still out. Was the WMF enriched by that? Well, it is the Atlantic Council after all... I suppose it would be good to know something about this newish Digital Forensics "tiny lab" of theirs. Apparently they've had the Bellingcat founder and some NATO/NSC folks onboard for a while now. But that is much easier to write here than there, and so it still isn't in the article, because there was so much to fix. All that because I wanted to change "donator" to "donor".

Fartheewell too. I'll still buzz myself round, not to worry. We'll see how long I can avoid the Off!
