Uh oh.
P.S. I'm not calling anyone's competence into question here, but did anyone read the article? It's baffling.
HE FOUND THE LOOPHOLE.

Someone presenting an article to DYK, or reviewing and approving it, without having read it, would be an example of incompetence. But he said he wasn't trying to question their competence. So he mustn't be, right?

He could have simply said the article was baffling, which isn't necessarily questioning their competence because it could be the case TRM had genuinely been confused. Even better, he could have said the text didn't make sense to him. Even better, he could have simply pointed out a specific part which seemed confusing.

I mean he did that, but only after he had successfully started an argument with one of the editors he was calling incompetent, the reaction to which he then banned them from his personal user space (the place where he questions their competence). Which went down well, of course. All very collegiate.
Also, consider this a formal request to stay the fuck off of my talk page. SL93 (talk) 00:37, 16 December 2018 (UTC)

This is the "baffling" text he was referring to btw.....
Payssé won both the Individual all-around, 5 events and Individual all-around, 6 events competitions at the 1906 Intercalated Games in Athens, Greece.
Inelegently phrased, sure, but the intended meaning seems clear to me. Hardly an "error". But he has added it to his statistics as such.

Oh, and he also spotted the "error" that the reader has not been made aware of which type of football was being referred to. Because it is confusing isn't it? What kind of football were women playing in France in 1917?

See, the system works fine.......

How's that tongue Dweller?

He found another loophole.....
It's also another potential opportunity for an ex-Arb to influence the committee using the back channels to which we are not privy. The Rambling Man (talk) 21:15, 17 December 2018 (UTC)
Not questioning someone's competence. Just saying that they're likely to be corrupt. See. Totally different.

This crazy bastard has finally taken a day off Wikipedia, yesterday, the first in at least 22 days, and the first since he told us Grandad died. Dare we assume this was Grandad's funeral? Perhaps. Seems a little too long to be left lying in state though.

Technically it wasn't even a day off, the first edits today were made at 1am. And he was last editing into the late evening before the day off. But it is, at least, a chronological 24 hours spent away from the cult. He could have been editing logged out to feed his addiction I guess, which would be hilarious given his strenuous denials that he just doesn't do that. So he better hope nobody goes looking for telltale evidence of such.

TRM has made three edits today, one of which was to totally blank their talk page, and two angry rants at the ArbCom noticeboard on his favourite subject, how he is being terribly mistreated by the capricious Wiki-justices. This could be his grief stricken attempt to retire, the emotion of it all finally getting to him.

Then again, there is nothing actually unusual in this at all. The rants are no more ranty than his recent efforts, and the blanking could just be a last desperate attempt to signal to his enablers that he needs backup, as his final attempts to complain about the motion that was enacted, seemed to be dying a death. Pun intended. That he can only rally Black Kite, OnlyInDeath and Dweller to his cause now, suggests he is wasting his time.

Perhaps the best evidence that it wasn't Grandad's funeral yesterday, is that he hasn't said it was. Because his past edits show that if that was the reason he took yesterday off, he would be telling everyone for maximum emotional blackmail effect (while telling them it wasn't being said to extract sympathy or special treatment), especially the cruel Abritrators who are torturing him so by not clarifying whether "your position is utter bollocks" is a violation of his new motion, or just the general civility policy.

Thank You
A beer on me!
.......I've been here long enough to know that we as a community don't say thank you as much as we should and especially with Christmas and New Year's around the corner, I wanted to say thank you for everything you do. You've caught more general Main Page errors than I can count (and more of my own mistakes personal typos/mistakes than I'd care to admit), not to mention your general content work, and I truly appreciate the time and energy you spend on everything. Thank you, Mifter (talk) 07:34, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
Hmmm. Quantifying TRM's uncountable benefit to Wikipedia is proving to be a fun task.....

According to his current tantrum page, TRM is resolving 6.33 "errors" a day. If we generously assume this rate over his entire editing career, that still means he has only "fixed" in the region of 31,000 "errors". If we assume in the same period, the Main Page has displayed 15 articles to the reader per day, and if we assume at least half of those contained errors (both of which seem like massive underestimates), then in his entire time there, TRM has barely fixed 42% of errors that were exposed by Wikipedia via their front page. Never mind all the other ones in their 5 million plus pile of shit. And this is of course assuming all his identified errors were actually errors, which as we know, they are not.

In the process, everyone on Wikipedia has had to put up with this whiny little bitch being a massively disproportionate load on the already not very fit for purpose governance systems, and an all round cancerous presence in the community. And while he is now nothing more than an embarrassing annoyance, remember that for much of his editing career, he was an Administrator, with the ability to warn and block.

So......thank you?

It seems quite obvious that, given all those people who have explicitly said they are not going to work on Main Page errors while TRM is around, the reason we all owe him a beer, is because he has ensured for so long that they could not reach their seemingly pretty easy to reach target of a 100% identification and clearance rate, for the Main Page at least.

As an aside, his general content work is merely obsessively documenting an anachronistic sporting event and polishing up obscure lists to "featured" standard (i.e. add an introduction and references). It's worthless garbage, stuff nobody cares about and nobody would really miss - if TRM retired, this idiot wouldn't be resuming his content work as vital to the mission.

I will ask again, Arbitrators, and indeed anyone calling themself a "Wikipedian".

Why is someone who says something like this......
Perhaps that's the point, to completely silence ''any'' kind of complaint I may wish to register because now ''anything'' I write which goes against any other editor can be declared as a comment on competence or motivation.
.....not already site banned from Wikipedia?

As if you needed any more proof, this single snippet taken from the never ending stream of GARBAGE that TRM is currently spewing out of his keyboard, illustrates only one of a very few possibilities.

It is indisputable that either...

1. TRM lacks the basic competence required to operate in a collaborative environment

2. TRM has a total victim complex

3. TRM is not willing to recognise the legitimate complaints of others

4. TRM is a troll

Or indeed any of the above in any combination.

There are no good faith reasons to continue to explain why TRM still apparently remains confused as to the purpose of the sanction or is even fearful of it. It can only be either rank stupidity, mental illness, or deliberate trolling.

At the end of the day, for every second TRM remains a Wikipedia editor, you can all legitimately be judged for allowing it. You are all guilty. From NewYorkBrad right down to Davey2010, you've all ensured that indulging this despicable rat to the point he can piss right in your mouths and you reward him for it, is emblematic of what the Wikipedia community is all about. Certifiable morons, one and all.

That includes people like this......
The sanction was altered because as it stood it was so narrow as to be virtually unactionable. But that was not the only remedy. In addition, the length of time for which you could be blocked without recourse to ARCA was limited to a paltry two days. AFAIK, you are the ''only'' user for whom the escalating block model for incivility has effectively been vacated, an extraordinary concession. Additionally, {{u|Sandstein}}, the admin who came under the most criticism at your AE requests, has expressed a disinclination to participate in any more requests involving you, which is another monkey off your back. And yet still you and your friends complain. Clearly you won't be satisfied unless the sanction is completely vacated - because it's impossible to word any sanction that completely precludes gaming by either party - and that's not an option. Most people in your position would be facing a siteban by now, so I think you'd be well advised to quit while you're still ahead. Gatoclass (talk) 13:05, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
I quite agree that there is no point discussing these matters with you, as you never take any responsibility for your own behaviour, it's always the other guy's fault. But if you are incapable of accepting criticism, I can at least put my case for others to read and consider. Gatoclass (talk) 13:52, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
Hey, Gatoclass. Take a look around. Nobody is listening. YOU'RE THE MUG HERE. Enjoy your day piss.

He may have actually retired. No edits since those rants on the 19th. I can't see Grandad's funeral taking more than a day, and I can't imagine TRM would be busy over Christmas visiting his non-dead relatives. As if you couldn't have guessed, for comparison, last year TRM edited every day in the festive period, making over a thousand edits from 22 December to 4 January, including Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

I'm liking the fact only I seem to have noticed he has gone, presumed retired. The same thing happened with Eric Corbett. Almost like, when it comes down to it, when a filthy rat finally leaves the building, people aren't actually sad. They just keep really quiet, hoping not to give the rat any reason to think he is still wanted.

Hopefully it is permanent. As always, it doesn't pay to assume until at least three months have passed.

And just as a reminder, TRM was adamant, he does not sock, nor edit logged out. This is his one and only account, so if it looks to be abandoned, it's owner falling out of love with Wikipedia, that is what we are meant to assume has happened. And blame all his enemies for causing this tragedy on Wikipedia, obviously.

Anyway, for those interested in factual evidence of The Rambling Dickhead's supposed vital worth to Wikipedia, all told it has been four and a half days since he did any work on Main Page quality control patrol, and Wikipedia has seemingly not become a laughing stock. Either he wasn't catching the sort of errors anyone else gives a shit about, or he was simply duplicating the effort that has continued on the official page for the purpose quite happily without his toxic presence (it has not seen seemingly seen an obvious increase in workload in these last few days), as it has done since he was forced into exile.

Potentially far worse for everyone concerned, it could mean that the Administrators who were using his tantrum page to guide their efforts, have perhaps in his absence got off their lazy asses and started looking for those same errors themselves, rather than waiting for him to catch them. Hard to imagine that is the case, but if it was, well, it proves The Rambling Dickhead was replaceable, and that his enablers and supporters were quite happy for him to be a toxic piece of shit simply because it made their lives easier, and anyone who he was negatively impacting, they really could go fuck themselves as far as those Administrators were concerned.

Hopefully his apparent inability to conceive of a way he could help Wikipedia without being seen to question other people's competence, is finally a signal of the real reason he was there in the first place. If he did care about the things he really does claim to care about, he would have either found a way to work with the new restriction, or he would have willingly become a martyr under its ridiculousness, and hope the ensuing wheel warring and general drama would come down in his favour. It wouldn't, and not because nobody else doesn't give a crap about the quality of Wikipedia, hence why he seems to have taken this decision to simply walk away.

To be fair, he was trying to martyr himself, albeit in a rather pathetic and dubious way. He made about a dozen posts that he claimed were now blockable under the new restriction. Turns out they weren't. it was most likely not a genuine attempt. He made plenty of block-worthy posts in that same time that weren't acted upon, but these were by no means deliberate acts, all were well within what he has become used to getting away with.

If he was hoping that simply coming a mysterious disappearing act, hinting he may have retired without actually outright saying it, that would be enough to achieve the same effect as martyrdom, well, he need only have looked to the example of Eric Corbett to see that it does not. The people of Wikipedia are dumb, no doubt, but not so dumb they can't spot when someone who so firmly stood by certain principles, when push comes to shove, chooses to run, not fight. The crazies of Wikipedia happily rally to anyone's crazy cause, but cowardice, that isn't a cause. It's a defect.

Not explicitly abounding his retirement is perhaps one way he might have learned from the ferret fucker's example. Repeatedly retiring on principle and then meekly returning with your tail between your legs when it doesn't achieve the desired effect, does rather reduce the impact of later retirements, until finally, when you do go, nobody gives much of a shit, not even your most loyal lieutenants.

TRM won't want that for his future. Hence why this is probably not the end. He wants a grand exit, he wants his departure to be seen as forced and a great tragedy. He wants mourners and flowers.

Due to years of much bullshit, of which this was just a latest tedious example, he may have already blown his chances at a glorious finale, and his only future now is a site ban or a meek voluntary departure, neither of which generates much fuss. It's what his imaginary dead Grandad would have predicted was his future, if he really did know him like a son, and really did know what he gets up to on Wikipedia. Which he didn't, and doesn't. Because he would have disowned him.

Still wikidead.

I hadn't even noticed this.....

Someone should really tell him that changes in how Wikipedia works means this element of the diva quit is no longer really effective - because he has a an extent user page on meta, he doesn't come up as a redlinked user. I confess I don't even remember what he had on it. Probably just a pathetic rant.

A couple of known oddballs have noticed, but really, I've seen more comments in response to someone posting a picture of their cat. All those people who lined up to claim he was invaluable to Wikipedia, that his detractors and the wikipolice should LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE, where are they now?

This is what I love about Wikipedia. Very rarely are they capable of genuine emotion or affection, much of it is totally fake, usually said as a proxy for other issues, for reasons of tedious wikipolitics. Almost as if they are a bunch of socially maladjusted freaks.

Well, they're one freak down now. Where are you Rambling Man?

You would think his former friends might at least appreciate the dire possibilities of someone appearing to be depressed and having lost all hope, at this time of year.

I seem to recall it looked like a mad persons scrapbook, complete with a boomerang gif and some 200% bold all caps fuckery about WP:ERRORS2 and how many errors he fixed. Shame I don't have a screenshot really.

Forget it! If you are out you are out, no matter how high your wiki states was and your wiki star was risen.
That is a part of the system. I have seen that with Menke, a Dutch woman on WPNL in a early stage for the first time, and we have seen it with TBloeming, Jurgen-NL and INeverCry. INC was beging for attention on the talk page of Trijnstel the baby snatcher for attention, for a friendly word at the end but no. He was pissed off.
They take of all your ranks and feathers to warn the rest, look what happens if you are not loyal to the system. Drmies is the next one by the way, because he blew it with that alexander thing and that SanFanBan of me with a sock..

The site is definitely imbued with a strange level of cold human indifference, their occasional attempts to make it appear not to be the case always looking very disingenuous and/or forced.

He's still MIA. His public defender Dweller has at least finally turned up to offer his thoughts. The use of a giant smiley, referring to the news of the death of this man who was supposedly a father to him as "not a bundle of laughs", and some generic impersonal twaddle you can find on any of these was digital greetings they send each other this time of year, is a classic example.

Fucking wierdos.

You're not normal, and you kind of already know it, don't you?
