Fabrication and falsehood is what Wikipedia is about (on a per article basis - 99.83% of all individual articles are wrong in whole or in part)Boing! said Zebedee wrote: ↑Fri Sep 02, 2022 8:24 pm
fabrications and copyright thefts pushed right under their noses for some reason just ignored them,
This board outlines many cases where "thousands, tens of thousands, and hundred of thousands" of false articles have worked their way into Wikipedia from a single individual editing "the website" for "reasons." There is no process to stop the introduction of fabrications, from an established "player," at either an isolated or industrial scale.
There is no process to correct articles which are already established.
Wikipedia speaks to people not process; therefore you have editors and administrators marching to their own tune (to their own "reasons." IN a small community of active participants (administrators and editors alike) there is an out sized percentage of people who 1) have no validation from life 2) are autistic 3) are severely mentally ill.
The "best people" (somewhat normal people) that are attracted to Wikipedia tend to be very myopic because they are educated in a highly specialized way. This downside of specialization was something Buckminster Fuller anticipated in the 1970'sDeclining Active Administrator Link viewtopic.php?f=5&p=23169#p23169
There are very few active editors in total , with a handful of editors responsible for most of the content.
.005% of all editors generate most of the content, hardly anyone
Even this small number of people cannot be monitored or managed without a process; hence spectacular controversies and blowups
500 edits (achieved by .25% of the total editing population) generates enough trust on the system to market products or push a narrative
So you have a small number of people able to do global harm; and a larger number of people doing specialized harm
Most of the few-administrative eyes (all 449 of them) are focused on the larger set of people 99.995%-99.75 people with few edits aka "vandals"
There are no pit-bosses, cage-men, or eye-in-the-sky watching the administrators https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIPmu6bYZOs
Leading to even more Spectacular flame-outs
People trolling for "reasons" with no process
The process of the failed Nupedia
Nupedia's articles were all peer reviewed. These were the steps they had to follow:
-Assignment
-Finding a lead reviewer
-Lead review
-Open review
-Lead copyediting (when articles had their grammar, punctuation and layout changed to look better)
-Open copyediting
-Final approval and markup
Process wins out over People (Rock, Paper, Scissors, Spock)
The Oberanks or just Rank Pissing contest. You smell, and nanny-nanny poo-poo
It's basically talking to the person instead of the issue. 99.83 percent wrong!
