Re: What's with the hostility of the Discord?
Discord = hostility! one is a synonym of the other;
It should be of no surprise that hostility, rather than harmony, would be found on a product called Discord.
Of course, the folks at "Discord" claim their mission is "harmony" which is
antipodal to reality.
https://discord.com/company#:~:text=Dis ... he%20world.
We want you to build genuine relationships with your friends and communities close to home or around the world. Original, reliable, playful, and relatable
Nah, the mission of Discord is totally untrue; Discord is a time-sink just like Wikipedia, where free content gets generated by free labor for profit
Discord has millions of people creating places for their friends and communities, talking for upwards of 4 hours per day on the platform. Discord is now where the world talks, hangs out, and builds relationships
I mentioned being antipodal (or doing the exact opposite of the stated narrative) before;
Wikipedia's purpose is to benefit readers by acting as a widely accessible and free encyclopedia; a comprehensive written compendium that contains information on all branches of knowledge. The goal of a Wikipedia article is to present a neutrally written summary of existing mainstream knowledge in a fair and accurate manner with a straightforward, "just-the-facts style". Articles should have an encyclopedic style with a formal tone instead of essay-like, argumentative, promotional or opinionated writing.
The narrative/mission of Wikipedia is the exact opposite, antipodal, to what is true.
Antipodes stick;
"There's no doubt it was a terrorist act directed at the destruction of critically important civilian infrastructure of the Russian Federation," Putin
A strategic target bombed off hours with minimal civilian casualties then justifies
through a discordant narrative, the terrorist/destruction of civilian infrastructure, the killing of non-combatants, one hundred times over all taking place during rush hour as to maximize impact.
It's all the same thing.
That is why I believe in plain speaking and doing rather than talking.
It is not merely unwise, it is contemptible, for a nation, as for an individual, to use high-sounding language to proclaim its purposes, or to take positions which are ridiculous if unsupported by potential force, and then to refuse to provide this force. If there is no intention of providing and keeping the force necessary to back up a strong attitude, then it is far better not to assume such an attitude. Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe doctrine.
In a day or minute; "virtual worlds" such as "Discord and Wikipedia" might be realized (truthfully) as totally moot.
Because of Ian, and for me, From September 23rd to yesterday - the Internet held no meaning - and it was nice living a 1970's type existence.
At some point in the very near future the Internet, Wikipedia, and Discord will have no meaning for many people because they will have to cope with a changed physical world reality.
