LIZ (Twinkle)

Post by wexter » Fri Oct 28, 2022 12:58 pm

Looks to me to be a person who decided to be a robot using automated tools. (Twinkle?, XFD closer?), cuts down on the need to be a thinker.

Sort of an interesting comment on her talk page;

While Wikipedia's written policies and guidelines should be taken seriously, they can be misused.
Do not follow an overly strict interpretation of the letter of policy without consideration for the principles of policies.
If the rules truly prevent you from improving the encyclopedia, ignore them.
Disagreements are resolved through consensus-based discussion, not by tightly sticking to rules and procedures.
Furthermore, policies and guidelines themselves may be changed to reflect evolving consensus. (WP:NOT)
It seems the above is antipodal (opposite) to what is really going on.

Norman Coordinate!

For what little it's worth, Twinkle is one of the earliest editing bots on WP. Its "prime time" was basically between 2007 and 2015. It's still in regular use, though the hardcore insiders seem to consider it a bit dated.

LIke any WP bot, it can be used properly or it can be used abusively--and some of its built-in functions, like automatically sending requests for deletion ("CSD", "PROD" etc) and reporting users to admins for "misconduct", are just begging to be abused.

And Liz is (still) one of the craziest deletionists I've ever seen. Spends an inordinate amount of time yammering at people on talkpages--and not actually doing much work.

Most of the "talk" edits seem to be the same byte length and are automated.
500 edits a day; all automated - 395,000 edits
Of those 352,000 deletions

What is odd about the deletions is they are not real deletions (of articles); they consist mostly of abandoned draft pages, abandoned lists, and talk pages. EB - very astute observation that she really does not do anything constructive; she just does lots of repetitive jiggering and she wacks folks on talk using automated messages to poke them.

My guess is she gets a Dopamine high from Wikipedia; sort of like pulling the "slot machine" handle and getting rewarded with intense feelings of pleasure.
