Nutbag Wikipedians

Post by ChaosMeRee » Sat Dec 23, 2023 9:50 pm

If you come across a long established Wikipedia editor with crazy weird stuff on their user page, add them here. If only to prove Wikipedia's rules on what should and should not be in your userspace, are completely meaningless. Please only list the genuinely crazy people. Mere attention seekers like EEng are a ten a penny on Wikipedia.

Anyone who thinks Wikipedia is an encyclopedia or that monies donated to Wikipedia should go to the volunteers, need to be shown this list.

I have two to start with...

Paine Ellsworth
A user with 31,746 edits. Account created on 29 May 2006

There is some crazy ass shit in those links, nutbaggery like secret life forces, the more extreme end of someone who fancies themselves as some kind of life coach / guru. Quite unbelievably, the existence of this nonsense was latterly put under the full glare of an RfA, and the collective response of the Wikipedians was essentially meh. Really quite disturbing.

Greg L
A user with 244,753 edits. Account created on 27 February 2009.

I suspect having an "open letter to extraterrestrials" is just the tip of the iceberg here. Needless to say, an attempt to MfD this utter nonsense was rebuffed, because Greg is an "old hand" with a "productive past". One can only imagine what kind of nonsense this guy had added to Wikipedia over the years.
