NeilN: Another White-Washed Administrator

Post by Mutineer » Sat Dec 02, 2017 11:52 pm

30 August 2005 are his first non-disappeared edits, and he knocks out 6 or 7 like this.

[[Michael Molovinsky]] - Any reason why you removed nn-bio?

It's bull. His edits have been deleted. For privacy, or is he hiding his sins? He's blocked well over 6,000 editors.
I am "Modsquad" here, and participate, but I don't want you to think we can't have an angry argument.

I haven't even studied NeilN before. He's a dead-typical "evil patroller", going right back to his early days. Also a sockpuppet account who showed up in August 2005 and clearly had plenty of experience already. He's a trivial patroller so he's not included in the book wiki as an "important figure".

And yes: there are edits missing from his history. He's been doing very bad things. Right from the beginning he was voting to delete in AFDs and reverting vandalism. Didn't become an admin till 2015.

Whatta prick. Welcome him to Wikipedia and he deletes the welcome notice.

You can try to "out" him but it won't be easy. Suggest starting with the NetMarket article.

NeilN is a worthless SOB and a typical example of the kind of admin that thinks they can do whatever they want to editors. He has no respect for the editing community, no respect for other admins and no respect for the project. He is like a sociopath who manipulates others into thinking they are trying to help and just goes around tearing people down. He doesn't create or improve content and he doesn't do anything really of value except lord over others. NeilN is the perfect example of why adminship should be temporary and they should have to rerun every few years so they can go and be an editor and actually improve the project and see what it's like to be a real editor.

As it is, he does nothing but help our cause through his hostility and incompetence towards Wikipedia editors.

NeilN may be the single most evil administrator on Wikipedia right now. Just today he indefinitely blocked an editor straight up as a vandal-only account for doing nothing but add factual information to Taylor Swift articles.

Block message: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =816632784
User contributions for Thepeeplescourt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... eplescourt

He seems to go straight to indef blocks more often than not, and does it at least once per day.

And yet his request for adminship passed 168-5: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia ... ship/NeilN

NeilN seems to be telling us that Wikipedia is getting more evil, not less.

NeilN does occasionally, as pure coincidence, get one right. Today's one actually was disruptive: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... .230.29.71

Straight to an indefinite block based on 2 edits total is a bit unusual, to say the least, but technically okay: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... yanTyler69

Then there's this one who he blocked just for 31 hours but considers to be indefinitely blocked, yet what they were doing was correcting inaccurate information (oops): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... 32.225.228

So NeilN basically just goes around banning people at a rate of 7 per day, routinely goes straight to indef and rarely checks if they had actually done anything wrong. Occasionally, out of pure chance, they actually had done what he claims they did, but even then he is overly harsh, and more often than not they've either done nothing wrong at all or else something so minor that it warrants a chat rather than a block.

And yet he remains an administrator, with widespread praise.

So who is he? Who is this jerk who causes so many problems, never bothers to actually contribute to any articles, yet is given this much destructive power?

Presumably his first name is Neil and his last name starts with an N, but who knows. Presumably he is some psychopath who is doing this as therapy so he doesn't commit mass murder somewhere. Perhaps he saw a psychiatrist who recommended this as treatment.

But how is it that Wikipedia can't tell that he is bad? There seem to be no redeeming qualities about him at all.

More likely than him being a psychopath is that he is simply a loser with no friends who spends too much time in Wikipedia pretending to be in charge of something.

Look at this: A Request for Arbitration set up to expose NeilN! Maybe he'll be banned?

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823815924

But alas, it is removed not because it lacked substance but rather because of an unsubstantiated claim that it was made by a banned user:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823818068

That terrible person who dared to bring NeilN to task was banned indefinitely for daring to do so soon afterwards:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... 3AKrampusC

How terrible is it that someone would dare suggest that NeilN had ever done anything wrong? Needs to be permabanned for sure.

I just stumbled upon this one, another one blocked indef with no warnings and for absolutely nothing.

Initially blocked for 31 hours for "disruptive editing": https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823386407

40 minutes later, it was changed to indef: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... type=block

As for what he did, from what I can gather, he was adding accurate information to association football articles, his last one being this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823361995

That's right, he used the correct piping for association football.

And then he had the gall to report someone who was putting inaccurate information in: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823346939

He did it twice: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823386137

5 hours apart for the same user.

And this guy is a vandal, by the way, this Ethan111 guy who ChocolateRabbit reported. Just 3 contributions in and we get this: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823328764

Pretending that someone who played for Arsenal had actually played for Chelsea! Sacrilege!

Immediately undone too: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?ti ... =823328764

So ChocolateRabbit, with hundreds of positive edits per day going back years is indef blocked by NeilN for doing exactly what NeilN did to warrant becoming an administrator === reporting people doing the wrong thing.

So what's the real reason for this block? Worried that he might become an administrator and show you up? Talk about a psychopath.
