Hey,

Just a thought, and I hope it does not create any grievances towards me for saying this.

Why a 'wall of shame'? why 'wikipidiots?

Obviously, I am supportive of criticizing Wikipedia, but if we turn this community into toxic dumping, publicly "shaming" people who edit on Wikipedia, then doesn't this community just become like an Encyclopedia Dramatica or some other platform that is not taken very seriously?

I believe there are very strong criticisms to make, and it is important that these criticisms gain more awareness. I'm worried that by shit posting our gripes, we may be muting our own message to those who can't tell the difference between our shit posting and those we criticize.

(ducks for cover)

Cheers

okay. please don't mistake what I wrote as defending these people, I'm just saying that if we want to communicate to the outside world what the problems are, this type of flag waving may also prevent what you're reporting on to be heard.

Signal to noise ratio - shit posting is clogging up the net, that sort of thing.

let it go. There are so many abusive Wikipediots that I seriously doubt it's physically possible to list them all. (I know--I tried!)

Don't forget Guy Macon. Before he became a Wikipedia fanboy he was a Linux developer. Who was famous for shitposting things like this.
http://www.guymacon.com/flame.html
Which he actually posted on several Linux-related Usenet groups in 1997:
https://groups.google.com/group/alt.os. ... 529e?fwc=1

If Wikipedia weren't full of assholes like Guy, he would have been tossed out long ago. He is a minor noticeboard pest, who does asshole things routinely.

The simple is the best... the simple fact is Wikipedia is full of odorous bovine excrement.
