A quick question. Katherine retweets a post by George Ciccariello-Maher with a call to "Burn it all down". Probably "it" in this context refers to the whole political system of the United States. Again, Katherine is entitled to espouse any views she likes in her own personal life, but my question is whether George Ciccariello-Maher is any relation?

The Ciccariello-Maher page was created in 2016 by an IP address belonging to an Mexican ISP. It was greatly expanded in Feb 2017 by another IP address, belonging to the same Mexican ISP. Paid editing? Maybe. More likely he edited his own article from Mexico City, because I keep seeing mentions of one of his home addresses being there. On his Twitter for example.

He wants a "white genocide". Lol. Self-hating white man? Not the only one in academia. The angry little boys of the alt-right hate him muchly.

I've tried to find a connection to Katherine. The name "Maher" is extremely common in the US so nothing pops out. His wife's name is Abbey. Since the right hates him, they have dug into his personal history.

Possibly George is related familially to Katherine. I've been unable to connect them--she is claimed to be from Wilton, CT and he appears to be from a poor family in Maine. You are welcome to try your own searches.

I think there are two WMF's. The propaganda WMF, what is killing every spark of criticism, and a realistic WMF. But lets first face the facts, that is important.
It is impossible to fit the wiki system in the new European regulation. Impossible, you have to start from the sketch. It is not compatible, there is now way to fix Wikipedia, that is a impossible mission. So, they tried to change Europe, but that was a hopeless expedition.
But there is no plan B! And she knows that! WMF knows that.
There is not any hope the EU will accept WMF as a outlaw any longer.
The propaganda part is still trying something, the realistic WMF knows the situation, so what can they do? The confrontation. So, I think they will crash Wikipedia to the European iceberg and see what happens. TINA, There is no alternative. And Maher? I think she supports this tactic.

Is this serous? It is insane. That complete political activism in Brussels was insane. What Maher is doing with here support in Austria is insane. Maybe they do that it in Bulgaria in that way, but not in the rest of Europa. They are naive children how have no idea of rest of the world outside wikipedia.. And maybe Maher looks like a grown up woman, but it is also a child. A sweet naive child who is playing in a safe way a revolutionair. Her resume is really weak, Aggie was right on WR, there is nothing remarkable in here CV.

How, how is it possible this woman ever got the executive director of the Wikimedia Foundation? Someone who has no idea of the political constitution of the snake pit the EU. Because that is what it is. The place where the European country's are fighting with the knife on the table. Where never a European interest counts, but only the interest of the powerful country's like Germany and France and it's allies.

I have read the background behind this new European regulation. They want journalists, creators and writers to be better protected, so they get better paid and can do there work better. Against fake news and rubbish on the internet.
They want to give professionals a better position in Europe. And I think that is wise. And if someone has other arguments, I welcome them to discuss this with me and the others here, in a surrounding where I am not blocked in a split second. In a polite way of course.

Could be. But in Europe we need good leadership, not a revolution, and for sure not a revolution lead by a foundation from America.
Most of the country's are well organised, and wealthy. The political problem now is the refugee crisis, not the little pain of the wikipedians.
And I am sure they will manege that problem, because they all know Mutter Anglela Merkel its immer da with cousin Mark Rutte with a fat, filled wallet to pay ad the end. And not to forget to mention uncle Marcon. And the children have to listen, otherwise they don't get there pocket money.
