Stalin was arguably worse than Hitler.

Yet people don’t bat an eye to Stalin’s atrocities, because Stalin was part of our team.

Re: A little musing about history
It's not unusual. Chinggis Khan (you're not supposed to spell it "Genghis" anymore, apparently it "offends" someone) and his Golden Horde are claimed to have murdered millions in China alone. From Wikipedia:eltomas2003 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 5:02 pmStalin was arguably worse than Hitler.

Of course, all of Asian history is littered with attempts to wipe out whole nations and ethnic groups. Europe wasn't much different. How the despots are regarded by history usually relates to their political connections to powerful modern-day countries. And Khan and his descendants are still regarded as "heroes" in much of central Asia.It has been estimated that approximately 11% of the world's population was killed either during or immediately after the Turco-Mongol invasions (around 37.75 - 60 million people genocide in Eurasia, out of which at least 35 million deaths were in China).[46] If the calculations are accurate, the events would be the deadliest acts of mass killings in human history.

Then why this double standard between europe and asia?Of course, all of Asian history is littered with attempts to wipe out whole nations and ethnic groups. Europe wasn't much different. How the despots are regarded by history usually relates to their political connections to powerful modern-day countries. Japan was just as bad as germany, probably even worse than germany atrocitywise, yet america basically sanitized and swept the skeletons under the rug for japan. But america and the allied forces went all in with germany's prosecution.
Hitler only did the final solution because nobody else wanted the jews. Yet another proof that people are willing to create monsters so that they can fight them and play the hero.
Hitler was anti-communist and if he was still alive at the wars end, maybe america would let him off because he would have supported America's anti-stalin agenda akin to hirohito being relieved of any charges because he was anti-communist.
In fact all of america's history is littered with attempts of subduing and preferably exterminating anyone who wasn't white. Nobody really bats an eye to that as well. The nuclear bombings in japan would have been considered an atrocity under the axis's perspective.Of course, all of Asian history is littered with attempts to wipe out whole nations and ethnic groups.
America: Nazis bad
Also America: Recruits Nazi scientists and gives them safe haven.
Proof that life and death in the hands of the rulers depends on being able to support their agenda.
