Democrats are running an 81 year old, barely coherent cut-out politician and current president: Joe Biden

Republicans are running a reality TV show celebrity and convicted felon: Donald Trump

Green Party is running physician and "millionaire hippie" Jill Stein

Libertarians are running a homosexual Sales Executive named Chase Oliver (who got 11% of their party member vote)

Former Air America radio host Robert F Kennedy Jr. is running on a platform geared toward small farmers and drugs dependents who would like to withdrawal on farm premises.

No third party is doing particularly well getting on ballots.

The Dems are framing this as an election to save democracy, demonstrating their commitment to democracy by threatening to jail the top polling candidate and suing other candidates to the left of them from appearing on ballots, even after collecting 3x the required signatures. https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2024/0 ... j-j12.html

No third party is doing particularly well getting on ballots.

That's been the case since 1992, when the last "serious and viable" third-party candidate, Ross Perot, tried it. And supposedly siphoned off Republican voters, handing the job to Clinton. Now any third-party attempt is seen as a spoiler to the "hallowed two-party system". Meanwhile the hallowed system becomes more and more brutal, hateful, polarized, and irrational. So the Libertarians and Greens are now the "lunatic fringe". Because the assholes who REALLY run this country, the mad-dog hedge fund billionaires and the Musks and Zuccs, hate spoilers. They know that they can rely on the general support of the two major parties--even if they have come to resemble each other policywise.

Polls have become useless--I keep seeing random polls saying either B or T is in the lead. And I keep wondering who's funding those polls.

Oh btw, Trump turned 78 years old last week.....boomers dominate the national election cycle, so we get older and older candidates. Look at all the senators, from both parties, who are over 80 and keep being automatically reelected.

Welp, now Biden is leading the presidential polls for the first time in months. I told r/stupidpol this is what would happen after Trump's felony conviction and they all disagreed for some reason.

Couldn't watch more than 5 minutes of that debate. Biden is clearly suffering significant cognitive decline and Democrats are clearly not running this as if democracy is at stake. Don't know what the reason it is, but it's not that reason.

Cenk ran against Biden in the primary and has been vocally opposed to Biden's candidacy since he announced. He's clearly hoping Biden gets replaced by someone more progressive.

Though yea, last night shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone who watched a Biden interview in the last year. He sounded the same in a nearly 2 hour Howard Stern interview a few months prior. Goes to show how many Democrats don't actually research their candidates. That is, most of them.

I still think Cenk is an arrogant twat. But then, the Democrats suffer from loads of his variety of twattery. Now AOC is trying to get Supreme Court justices impeached for corruption. What are the chances of THAT happening? Judging from what I've heard about Clarence Thomas eagerly taking "special gifts" from wealthy "friends", he probably could and should be impeached. But sorry, the House votes are not there.

Even if Grampa Joe decided to give up on reelection (which is also very damn unlikely) they would have a lot of trouble finding a replacement. The DNC are stuck with him much as Donald basically dominates the GOP. Whether the ship goes down or not.

Both parties are dysfunctional and insane. In their own "special ways".
