How would you have designed MediaWiki differently, if you could?

Wikipedia sadly has a cancerous parasite that mocks its mission to be the sum of all knowledge:

DELETIONISM.

If Jimbo Wales wanted to live in a world where everyone can share into the sum of all knowledge, he should act against the ravenous deletionism. He could start by tossing WP:G5 and WP:G13 down the moat.

I already have asked Eric what he thinks about this, and here is his answer.

But what do you think?

How would you have designed MediaWiki differently?

Stop the deletionism

More I would change about MediaWiki:
  • Maybe an archive for out-of-scope articles that would otherwise have been deleted (and thus potentially lost for eternity).

Purpose: Users of third-party wikis (e.g. deletionpedia, uncyclopedia, etc.) might consider these articles valueable within their scope and would like to keep them.
  • Also, the creators of articles should automatically receive an emailed copy of their article (including revision history) upon deletion so they have a chance to enrich an alternative Wiki with that information.
