It has been previewed on the French and Iranian Wikipedia: their Desktop Improvements.

One key change is that the content width is capped at 960px rather than filling the screen width.

This proposed change has received massive criticism, even by administrators, CheckUsers (a FrWiki CheckUser who joined in 2004) and stewards and an enwiki buerocrat!

Discussion: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Talk:Rea ... provements

Met with massive outrage. One fool near the end suggests that people should use fewer tables. But over 95% are critical of the proposed screen width limitations.

this is pretty much the standard dumb stuff the WMF does. The community asks for an improvement, the WMF drags their feet and eventually releases garbage. The community complains, the WMF tells them to shut up and they all go on.
