Nazi Wikipedia

Post by Jake Is A Sellout » Tue Aug 17, 2021 2:49 pm

Another day, another rather successful attack of Wikipedia using the template vandalism vulnerability, affecting 53,00 pages this time.

It hardly matters if the attack only lasts a few minutes, when the affected pages include Joe Biden, and the content is being replaced by the Nazi Flag.

Shouldn't be possible, should already be covered by existing measures that had already been put in place to prevent precisely this sort of attack.

But hey, this is Wikipedia. Incompetent is what they do.

The attack lasted a whole five minutes, because that's how long it takes an experienced Wikipedia editor to track down which particular template has been fucked with, and revert the vandalism.

The attack was then reinstated for a minute at a time, two more times, because of course, as usual, the person who notices and tracks down the attack, is not an Administrator.

All told, it was a whole thirteen minutes between the first vandalistic edit, and an effective Administrative response. Pretty pathetic.

I don't know why these vandals aren't a little more creative/destructive in how they exploit this still clearly wide open vulnerability.

Instead of a Nazi flag, what about embedding one of the videos Marek Kukula was convicted of possessing? Men fucking ten year old boys. A crime that, according to Wikipedia, because of their war against right wing media, didn't even happen. Would that get the attention of Congress perhaps?

The Wikishits are making changes that they think will stop this happening again. But then again, isn't that what they did the last time? And the time before that. And the time before that.

They don't know what they're doing. Their approach here is as unprofessional as in previous incidents, and so the results will be the same. Half assed.

Because that is what Wikipedia is. A half assed encyclopedia.

Soemthing that is extremely offensive, and in those five minutes, was probably seen by thousands.

Oh, and you banned the Daily Mail less. At least the Mail apologised, explained what happened, and took remedial action, both at a policy and personal level.

The fuck did you do, dipshit? I'm talking to you, moral leader of the Wikipedia community.

Can't really apologise for making a mistake though, can you? Because the lie you told about the Mail, that somehow their error wasn't an error but a fundamental part of their business model, is actually the horrible truth here.

And this is relevant how? Is it more or less worse for Wikipedia for people to realise you can put a Nazi flag on 53,000 pages with just one edit?

Moron.

As usual, it's be nice to the fuckwit Wikipedia apologist day on Wikipediocracy.

They have that every single day.

Way to sell out, Jake.
