Not that they become anything like the star, but it's all about imagination. So is porn, right? The people most susceptible are those who spend the most of their lives alone, online and in their heads.

I suppose it goes without saying that the medical community is also partly responsible. While I'd like you meet you halfway on the other points, I can't imagine any of this nonsense would have gained so much traction on its own 'merit', without the media constantly promoting it and agitating the public.

Yes, the little chode was elected to Arbcom yesterday, for a two-year term. He showed up in early 2021, became an admin in September 2022 (with a lot of opposition), and now he's an arbitrator. Or she or it or what have you. Unquestionably just another likely sock of a hardcore, experienced patroller. And they do love patrollers.

Note that SandyGeorgia really doesn't like SFR but Carrite and Billy Burns voted in favor of adminship. Along with a long list of notorious bad actors--and other socks. Many bottoms were kissed, even on Wikipediocracy. That's why you dare not trust WPO's operators.

It's not just one admin or a couple of them. Like many other essays, WP:NQP represents de facto policy. I'll go out on a limb and guess that most frequently-cited essays in the WP namespace are abused routinely and are entirely unnecessary. Many of them read like policy or administrative procedure and are enforced as such when it's convenient to do so. Why aren't they part of the official policy, you ask? Either because they would explicitly conflict with it or because it would undermine Wikipedia's thin facade of impartiality. Here's a useful homework assignment: pick any one of these essays and consider what it actually adds. For example, when could someone be blocked on grounds of WP:NQP but not the official policy?
