WP:FREE is BULLSHIT!!!!!
So, I bet you're all aware of WP:FREE. This essay, given to us by the very stupid Essjay back in 2006, and it is still stupid to this day. WP:FREE basically states that Wikipedia is a dictatorship, and the Wikimedia Foundation has the right to censor anyone. And the reasons are fucking hilarious. They start off on the wrong foot by saying "We are a private..." blah, blah, blah, and using that as an excuse to censor anyone. What the serious fuck???? Now, it doesn't seem too bad when you're reading it, however they don't just apply it to mainspace edits. They apply it to any criticism (legitimate criticism) that anyone might have. Seriously? Wikipedia is seriously fucked if they don't get rid of this essay. Fucked.

Re: WP:FREE is BULLSHIT!!!!!
This is a Libertarian argument in that en.Wikipedia is run by the Wikimedia Foundation and thus is a "private website" - even though it's a non-profit staffed by unpaid volunteers, designed that way. Because Essjay wrote it, it's a fraudulent document by default, and you would think that others would have removed it by now - if en.Wikipedia wasn't a constantly-growing unfinished mess, a General Assessment of the site could be done and crap like this could be dumped or put in a hard-to-get-at archive. They won't do that, of course....it would be an admission that the site is no longer Bright Eyed and Bushy Tailed, that age has made the place seedy and ruinous, like the various sets (all on one stage!) of H.J. Syberberg's Hitler, a Film from Germany without all the Schicklegruber talk. Or is it more like the endless dinner party in Buñuel's The Exterminating Angel?Minecrafter0271 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 4:38 pmSo, I bet you're all aware of WP:FREE. Re: WP:FREE is BULLSHIT!!!!!
This was always the "official position", even long before Essjay showed up. The part after that:Minecrafter0271 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 4:38 pmSo, I bet you're all aware of WP:FREE. Is even worse. It basically, OPENLY says that Wikipedia might not contain actual facts. Why they keep THAT part is truly a mystery--all this shows you how little they care about critics, and more importantly, how little Wikipedia's average user cares about their rotten, petty, voluminous and often-insane "official policies". Few people bother to read anything in WP:POL. If something on a WMF project--ANY project-- is biased and untrue, well tough shit. So few really care about such "minor distinctions", they can pull any trick to protect their sick little community. But you have no "right" to express yourself at will in someone else's home, to demand that a private newspaper publish your thoughts, or to insist that Wikipedia carry what you write—even if it's "The Truth".
That would be the infamous Sherry "Whatamidoing" Snyder.Have a look at WP:YDOW, written by a WMF employee if i'm not mistaken.
From book wiki:
The Wikipediocracy thread from 2014, ha ha ha:Comically, she was responsible for writing "You don't own Wikipedia", an utterly hostile takedown/reminder for Wikipedia editwarriors and administrators. [1] She added a link to it from the "Customizing watchlists" page, reading: "This page was created because of a dispute over whether the English Wikipedia should use the same style as all the other sister projects. In December 2011, there was an overwhelmingly positive, community-initiated, CENT-listed RFC at the Village pump to enable one change to match the default style used on hundreds of other WMF projects. After it was implemented a few months later, this consensus was overruled by Wikipedia:You don't own Wikipedia|power users who disliked it." Bizarre.

False advertising.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:CENSORED
From https://wikimediafoundation.org/advocacy/ :
If they don't want to change, they should at least advertise with honesty.
Yeah, right.Wikipedia is not censored
From https://wikimediafoundation.org/advocacy/ :
Actions speak louder than words, pal.We champion everyone's right to free knowledge online.
Bbb23. Need I say more?We protect users’ privacy
and speech.
Protecting the right to speak […] freely
But if you dare say one critical word of any administrator, then BANNED!Standing up for our users
No comment. Sadly, in Wikipedia's current state, this unfortunately is blatant false advertising.everyone has the right to seek and share knowledge.
If they don't want to change, they should at least advertise with honesty.

Re: False advertising.
Ad opens with an empty office set, Jimmy Wales walks into frame stage right.
Jimbo: Hello there, I'm Jimmy Wales, Sole Founder of Wikipedia, I pinky swear, and I am here to promote the website. We at the Wikimedia Foundation know that the number of site editors are dropping, so we want to acclimate new users to Wikipedia, and attract new people.
Silent assistant comes in from stage left, whips out easel, puts a card on it which Jimbo points out with laser pointer.
Jimbo: Point One (points to card) is "We have a lot of coots, crankish folks, and neckbeards in powerful positions." You should know they aren't being paid, but you have to treat them like that weirdo from HR at your own job, if you work in an office. If not, they are like that insane customer at your muffler shop. Avoid them but show deference like you are an enlisted sailor in the German Kriegsmarine and they are Grand-Admiral Doernitz and you are both in the middle of World War II. Think about it (stares into camera with burning eyes, which we see in extreme closeup).
Pointer goes to second point.
Jimbo: Point Two is "Don't mention all the insane scandals - the Past is the Past." If you hear about Essjay the fake professor, or all the pedophile child grooming going on ten years ago, or my former role as the Grand Chingon of the Four P cult, or hear about MONGO, or what happened at the 2016 Wikiconference - please don't pass it on. Or write about it in the IRC. We know there are people who blog about these issues, and we wish they would burn in Hell, but Jesus and Ayn Rand don't answer those prayers.
Pointer goes to third point.
Jimbo: The Third and Final Point is "Don't notice how obsolete Wikipedia is, or for that matter, much of the social media landscape." We really stopped mattering during the Obama administration. Google is this giant landlord of anything written down since 1710, Craigslist is a junk store, and eBay like a sketchy car trunk sale in a bad neigborhood. Why haven't we been rolled by the Chinese? Thank the Great Firewall and Xi Jinping Thought which can be summed up in the racist sentence "Fucka yoo, Yankee Ghost man - we do it owr own way, wit' websites that combine YouTube with eBay!" Even a nation of ex-rice farmers turned IT specialists knows that the American internet is yesterday's thing, like the British auto industry! But forget that! Coffee is for Closers, and the first and second rules of Fight Club is "We do not Talk about Fight Club!"
Wales strides off stage right as the silent assistant folds up the easel and walks after him.
Female Voice Over: Wikipedia - we're kinda like Fight Club, but for the Mind!
