How do you define doing more "damage" to an article?

When I got my indefinite block, the administrator behind it said that it was to prevent me from committing further "damage" to the articles that I was recently working on. This is despite the fact I wasn't committing vandalism (which seems a more fitting reason to use that word) and the edits that I provided were intended to be in "good faith". But because I was cited for copyright infringement by in the administrator's words "overquoting" newspaper articles that constitutes as doing "damage" to an article.
