Terms of use.

Post by Graaf Statler » Sat Sep 09, 2017 5:34 pm

The terms of use of WMF.

*You are legally responsible for your edits and contributions on Wikimedia Projects, so for your own protection you should exercise caution and avoid contributing any content that may result in criminal or civil liability under any applicable laws.
**Sounds reasonable.

*For clarity, applicable law includes at least the laws of the United States of America. Although we may not agree with such actions, we warn editors and contributors that authorities may seek to apply other country laws to you, including local laws where you live or where you view or edit content.
**This is insane, they have a server in Holland, the site is in Dutch, most editors are Dutch. So there is not a question if WMF agree or not agree with such actions, or editors and contributors or authorities who may seek to apply other country laws, including local laws where someone lives or where he or she view or edit the content. Wiki products in Holland are under two legal systems, no discusion is possible!

*WMF generally cannot offer any protection, guarantee, immunity or indemnification.
**I bet they have to, with this crazy, insane term of use. No European judge will accept this amateurish piece of rubbish, because it's legel bull! He will declare them invalid, and he can, and shall in our legal system!

This is really just what we have come to expect form the WMF. A bunch of poorly written nonsense disguised as a legal decision to disguise the fact that they are completely incompetent in the eyes of the general public. Anyone with an once of common sense knows that most of that language is pointless legal posturing so that the WMF can try to weasel out on liability. One of these days though someone with enough money and time or some government is going to openly challenge them in court and they are going to have to burn through a bunch of cash to fix it. As mch money as the WMF has, they only have enough to operate as is for a couple years without raising more funds so a lengthy court battle would drain those funds pretty quick.
