Wikipedia Sucks!

Every other social media site allows account deletion, but not Wikipedia.

Actually they can, they just pretend that they can't.

Two ways:
1) using the steward action hideuser and globally locking the account effectively deletes an account, but they only do this when they don't like your username.
2) using the UserMerge extension and merging the account into an account shared by all deleted users. Unfortunately they don't use this extension.

It's part of the addiction cycle, you think you've left, but you'll eventually come back. And there's nothing you can do about it. (well other than dns blocking)

Speaking of which: today this landed in my email box. It's not spam or a phishing attempt, the embedded links actually go to WMF-controlled URLs. I haven't logged in there since 2009 or 2010. It's been a very long time. I could ask some officious bastard to lock it out. But I know damn well they won't, because I'm a "prominent critic". And not someone they would help.

There have been multiple failed attempts to log in to your account from a new device. Please make sure your account has a strong password.
