And meanwhile, the WMF and certain WP insiders have spent the last 20+ years half-heartedly encouraging children and teens to edit. Said kids are referred to the below essay, which is okay, but is basically written by and for adults. Simpler language would be better. But that will never happen, because bullying clueless editors is a "fringe benefit" for administrators. None of them (NONE!!!) is interested in mentoring child editors at this late date, as far as I can tell. And trhere is no "official procedure or system" to mentor new users, whether adults OR children.

Neary half of this essay was written by Newyorkbrad, aka working attorney Ira Matetsky, who actually DID try to mentor kids. Don't see him doing that anymore---partly because some of them were forced out by other admins. Many admini-fucks are literally looking for kids to harass and ban. Bullies always go for the most defenseless ones.

Shappy was one of the most notorious examples.

from the book wiki:
""Wikipedia has gotten too dangerous to walk away from". That's a very interesting perspective, and returning to NYB one of the things he has to come to terms with is his long-term advocacy of pre-teen administrators. Which has contributed to the mess we're in today. Give up the tools for a year, see what damage your spawn has done. Malleus Fatuorum 21:31, 24 February 2012 (UTC)"

In November 2008, Ira showed off a 12-year-old boy at a NYC Wikipedia meetup. The boy, Shapiros10 (later called Shappy), gave a speech complaining about "ageism" on Wikipedia, causing Ira to beam with joy at the lad. The video has been deleted from Google Videos, but the WR thread remains. Shappy later stuck his little nose into Association of Established Editors, then left Wikipedia permanently in August 2009.
