How likely that the articles about the Armenian Genocide are distorted as well?

Post by Ognistysztorm » Fri Jun 02, 2023 1:39 am

The acedemics who first exposed the Holocaust distortions hinted on the possibilities that other topic areas are distorted as well, which is all too true given the observations.

How likely that the articles about the Armenian Genocide are distorted as well? If another paper comes out to expose such distortion when the Holocaust distortion row is snowballing, Kumioko might as well become the happiest person on the planet even for a few seconds.

Wikipedia articles tend to be laundry lists -- it is one of the major reasons many articles are unreadable, unverifiable, out of context, have improper weighting, can be manipulated, or are simply incorrect in whole or in part.

Only .6% of all Wikipedia articles are "good articles" - it would simply be impossible to rewrite every article through an editorial framework.

People don't want to engage with Laundry Lists given there are now Large Language Model alternatives - Wikipedia is done; they are toast..

Laundry List articles - notice that bombing operations have laundry list articles of there own
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khmer_Rouge
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pol_Pot
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodian_genocide
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Menu
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Freedom_Deal

Concise articles - notice how the topics are organised including one paragraph on US bombing of Cambodia in broader articles
https://www.britannica.com/biography/Pol-Pot
https://www.britannica.com/event/Cambodian-Genocide
https://www.britannica.com/topic/Khmer-Rouge
https://www.britannica.com/topic/carpet ... %20bombing
With the advent of television, which allowed the media to report from both sides of the battle lines, carpet bombing became less accepted. The destruction inherent in such bombing may weaken the will of the enemy, but it also weakens the resolve of the nation prosecuting the battle. During the Vietnam War, President Richard Nixon ordered carpet bombing of North Vietnam as well as Cambodia, which was believed to be supplying the Viet Cong. As civilian casualties mounted and media accounts of the destruction surfaced, public support for the carpet bombing diminished. Several nations complained about the U.S. raids.
At my request -- Chat GPT did a summary in three paragraphs that covered all main-points. The last paragraph below;
Aside from the strategic bombings, other notable facts surrounding the Cambodian Revolution include the overthrow of Prince Norodom Sihanouk in a U.S.-backed coup in 1970, which triggered a wave of political and social unrest. The Khmer Rouge, led by Pol Pot, gained power in 1975 and embarked on a radical social experiment to create an agrarian communist society. This resulted in widespread forced labor, mass executions, and the notorious genocide that claimed the lives of an estimated 1.7 to 2.2 million people. The Cambodian Revolution and the subsequent Khmer Rouge regime left a lasting impact on the country, resulting in a profound humanitarian crisis and long-term social, economic, and political repercussions.
Wikipedia - "Barely competent and paranoid. There’s a hell of a combination."

This paragraph gives a wide range:
The number of deaths caused by U.S. bombing has been disputed and is difficult to disentangle from the broader Cambodian Civil War.[27] Estimates as wide-ranging as 30,000 to 600,000 have been cited.[4][5][6][28][29] Sihanouk used a figure of 600,000 civil war deaths,[30] while Elizabeth Becker reported over one million civil war deaths, military and civilian included,[31] although other researchers could not corroborate such high estimates.[32] Marek Sliwinski notes that many estimates of the dead are open to question and may have been used for propaganda, suggesting that the true number lies between 240,000 and 310,000.[27]

But all we hear is how bad Pol Pot was and Hollywood makes propaganda films about it to demonize Pol Pot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Killing_Fields_(film)

And we have an article about Cambodian genocide denial: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cambodian_genocide_denial

We've been over all that and Kumi is well aware of the editwars.

News flash, geniuses: there already was a thread in 2019. You should use the searchbox before starting a new thread.
