I'd post a comment there, but arguing with the Genderdesk operator is hopeless.

Such a sucker for "the Magical Wikipedia Way", and unwilling to admit that when the shit REALLY hits the fan, all the high-minded talk coming from the WMF and Jimbo suddenly stops, and they quietly fold/submit. And lie about it to the media.

Considering all the porn, including child porn, contained on the Wikimedia sites, Wikimedia knows they'll never be able to meet the bills requirements.

Also, considering how toxic the site is and the generally low morals of many of the editors, theres no chance they would remain operational for long.

Here are a few things that could get them in trouble if this new bill passes:
- porn, especially child porn
- copyright violations
- dishonest fundraising tactics
- grooming behavior
- recruiting for terrorist organizations
- online bullying
- they have no way to validate editors ages
- bias including flat out libel on Wikipedia articles, especially BLPs

So really, Wikimedia cant afford for the bill to pass.

That reminds me: whatever happened to the most notorious NOTCENSORED-bleating cranks who were responsible for making Commons into a raging madhouse? Let's take a little walk. Leaving out the most notorious crazies like Fae, Russavia and Beta M who flamed out in major public spectacles.

A large number of Commons admins were kicked away in the past few years for "inactivity" or resignation--just like English Wikipedia. List of desysops here which is apparently incomplete. They had far too many anyway. Commons adminship was given automatically to many en-WP admins for no good reasons other than political favoritism. Most did very little "work" there.

*Saibo: blocked himself and "quit" in 2013. He openly focused on sexual images. As always in these cases, I would not be surprised to find people like Saibo still run socks very quietly.

*Matthew Buck: desysopped last year for "inactivity".

*Stefan2/4: insane Swedish robotic deletionist patroller who liked to get rid of anything not related to sex or Japan. Desysopped sometime recently for no apparent reason, has done almost nothing on Commons since 2021.

*Niabot: the loon who made original manga-style cartoons of very young girls in "compromising positions", cut back his "valuable work" in 2013 and left in 2016.

*Pierre Selim: insane French robotic patroller and rabid off-the-hook Wikipedia fanboy. Desysopped recently for no apparent reason. Still grinding the Commons database today, though at irregular intervals; cut back heavily on his grinding in 2017.

*Rodhullandemu: desysopped for inactivity. We can't discuss his history openly because he's a retired UK barrister and likes to make legal threats.

(Of course, I should point out that some of the creepy CONTENT these people were protecting is still on Commons. You can find a few "little surprises" using this old list assembled by John Vandenberg and Andreas Kolbe in 2011. Lots of insane crap was deleted but some survived. Since Commons is a gigantic mess, content of a rude or sexual nature is often overlooked/ignored.)

Thats not even mentioning FAE who literally uploaded pictures of himself in sex acts with other men or the admin who was formerly a lawyer and was forced to resign as a lawyer to avoid being disbarred after soliciting a prostitute

Ah ha ha ha ha. He "threatened" Parliament with an unspecified "revenge move". As if he could get the Wiki-Bungs to do anything.

Seriously: I'd like to see the "Community" vote to shut Wikipedia down for a day to protest this bill. And fail, so they have to meekly bring WP back online and submit to the bloody Crown and install some kind of are-you-over-18 opening page or whatever.

There were several replies he made where he begged even more. They're no longer showing up for some reason, but I was smart enough to save them on archive.is: https://archive.is/fol9s
