One of the moms tried to get in touch with the aforementioned ex-user. Hopefully to help them forward their complaints to Peel police if the ex-user is genuine. And as they should. They should go to police and give their side of the story if they are genuine.

Anorexia, bulimia, self-harm, suicide, mutual harm, you name it. Especially "pro-ana pro-mia" sites aimed at harming the self-images of teen girls. Even more of this is happening on social media sites, usually unnoticed, because how many parents can be bothered to struggle their way thru the hellish mess of Tiktok? Facebook, Instagram, Livejournal and Tumblr all had a LOT of self-harm accounts at one time. They tried to remove all that crap but failed. The maniacs who push self-harm simply moved on to new sites or accounts and continued. MySpace didn't even TRY to control them.

As far as I can tell the SS founder has an online history in sites devotes to online crime. But yea the maniacs older than him may have moved onto his sites unfortunately. Those forums you mentioned are good examples of harmful forums. It's hard for me to give a fully open-hearted opinion on this topic as I feel I was dragged into having an opinion on this subject (not here or on gossip forums but elsewhere).

8chan was close to 100% "free speech" and I wasn't too bothered by it while Brennan ran it. Found it a somewhat harmless time waster for an hour or so a month.

Free speech is mostly about government not censoring, so yea those scare quotes you gave make sense. Anyone claiming to have their *own* free speech platform separate from the USA are being mini emperors in a way, acting like they are their owns mini-states that are enforcing America's laws. If it's so important to have a "free speech" place online like public parks IRL the government could just go ahead and set that sort of thing up.
