US Roads Project seceding from Wikipedia while RSChen chose to resign.
Admin resignations, a wacky fork and tiktok tea-spilling: the US Roads project takes their ball and leaves.

Another stupid, babbling, off-the-rails-whee WPO thread. Blah blah blah blah.Ognistysztorm wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:53 pmhttps://wikipediocracy.com/forum/viewto ... =8&t=13120
For completeness, the older thread:

Because people realized that it was excessive fancruft and removed hundreds of separate articles. There are nearly 1000 Pokemon, and there are actual articles on just 24 of them.
I could tell you things about Roy Chen. Disturbing things. USRoads is full of twitching OCD victims, but Roy is the worst of all.
For that matter, you can't talk about WP's road nut-squad without mentioning SPUI. He makes Roy Chen look stable. As Kelly Martin said, he's a "continuous breaching experiment"--one of the most successful in WP's miserable history.

The Tiktok video, which was a massive hit, 566,000 views and counting:

Guessing this is his WP account

Yeah, another basement nerd. So what. WP's crawling with them.
Still trying to figure out who he was complaining about: someone tagging road articles for lack of notability. I don't follow the roads crap so it's not easy to find instances of "abusive tagging" or whatever. Assuming he was moaning about Roy Chen, who has done a LOT of AFDs.
And all the blather on WPO about Google Maps not being reliable is hilarious--they HAVE to find something to bitch about in their petty way. Google Maps has NEVER been 100% accurate or reliable and probably never will be. Roads are built for random reasons, usually by local landowners or governments, and are abandoned for random reasons. The federal gov can barely keep track of federal highways. NO ONE is really paid or compensated to keep track of minor local routes. So all we get are OCD nerds grinding content--randomly.
All of this adds up to bad publicity for the magical Wikipedia. Year after year, instances of policy abuse drive people away, and the anger accumulates. The insiders will eventually regret doing their stupid little "policy" tricks for the past 22 years.

This probably wouldn't make my list of the top 50 problems with Wikipedia, but it is indicative of issues that have even larger consequences elsewhere on the site. Like the fanatical phobia of "primary sources" and "original research" which, taken to its absurd logical conclusion, means that maps can't be consulted as a source about geography.
I'm glad people are getting pissed off about something on Wikipedia, even if it is a bit silly IMO. Maybe some of these disgruntled editors will become interested in Wikipedia criticism more broadly.
