Raju Narisetti, appointed to WMF Board

Post by ericbarbour » Wed Nov 01, 2017 2:28 am

I added this to the book wiki:
===Raju Narisetti=== An experienced journalist, Narisetti was the CEO of Gizmodo Media at the time of appointment, the remains of the Gawker Media blog family. Before that he spent many years working for the ''Washington Post'', then the ''Wall Street Journal'' under Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. He was appointed to the Board in October 2017, by Board fiat, for a three-year term.

As soon as the appointment was announced on the official Wikimedia blog, Federico "Nemo" Leva showed up to attack him: ''"Ah, Gizmodo. Finally we can feel closer to Gawker Media! The recentism debate will be delighted. More seriously, it’s useful to have someone who can bring perspective on the politics of India and on how news corporation squeeze revenue from digital, considering WMF is not a news outlet and needs to reduce its focus on USA, anglo-saxon users and cash milking."''

Narisetti has a laudatory Wikipedia BLP, which shows the common signs of paid editing. It was discussed on Reddit and on Wikipediocracy. To no avail.
