All right Eric, the Dutch part.
[18:33] <Lajla> Ik spreek redelijk Nederlands.

[18:34] <Sceptre> the only Dutch I know is that "ljin" or "lijn" (I forgot which) is "line"
[18:34] <bradv> Hup Holland!
[18:35] <Lajla> That's lijn.
[18:35] <Lajla> Mijn: mine, fijn: fine, dijk: dyke, lijk: like.
[18:36] <Lajla> 'ij' descents from the proto-west-germanic 'long-i' as does the English 'ai' sound.
[18:36] <Lajla> And the German one.
[18:36] * Sceptre has used Belgian public transport before
[18:36] * FastLizard4 is finally out of school
[18:36] <Lajla> Mein, klein etc.
[18:36] <Lajla> Ehh, not klein.
[18:36] <Lajla> Sein, dein.
[18:36] <Lajla> dein: þine.
Special Sceptre has used Belgian public transport before fascinates me. Sceptre knows the Dutch/Flemish word line, lijn. You went to Belgium, and the only word you can remember is bus line! And then they start with most times German words. A really strange conversation I have to say.
