Remember: that is the lander that fell over at touchdown and is probably going to stop working shortly. No idea if this archive survived the flight, or the crash, or if it will survive a billion years or whatever.

My bet is that the archive survived the flight based on available information. Nevertheless, I've been trying to say that it is the best example of people treating Wikipedia too seriously and how it provides immense incentives for any actors to tamper with the platform. Think about this, you want to get back against a person, a group or a nation that you don't like. Making their reputations suffer for billions of years would be a very tempting option not to be dismissed.

Perhaps it could be counterbalanced by asking them to include other encyclopedias such as Justapedia to their payloads so that "history" would be harder to tamper with.

Also, isn't hilarious that it had to be seekret for no reason at all?

The DVDs are passive payloads, meaning that there's no way to find out 100% if they're unscathed. Nevertheless because the lunar gravity is so weak compared to Earth I think there's a high chance that it has survived and will probably remain there for billions of years.
