Articles Wikipedia should have--but doesn't.

Articles Wikipedia should have--but doesn't.

Post by ericbarbour » Sun Nov 19, 2017 5:30 am

I start with Peggy Jo Tallas aka "Cowboy Bob", one of the most famous bank robbers in Texas history

http://www.nbcnews.com/id/10367955/ns/d ... last-ride/
https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/t ... owboy-bob/
https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/t ... -the-lady/

She is famous enough that a play about her was staged in 2014
http://www.westword.com/arts/peggy-jo-a ... ch-5124423

And an episode of the TV series Forbidden
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2964722/

And a song
https://themoaners.bandcamp.com/album/nocturnal-lp

And there is currently a movie about her in development
https://www.movieinsider.com/m15835/the ... cowboy-bob
https://www.empireonline.com/movies/big ... owboy-boy/
http://variety.com/2017/film/news/micha ... 202547007/

But there is NOTHING about her on Wikipedia. Zero.

Meanwhile, the BLP of Morgan Marquis-Boire barely mentions that the hacker/human-rights activist has recently been accused of running a drunken rape campaign for around a decade. That link goes to a long article at The Verge.

Really the sloppiness and omissions within the totality of en.Wikipedia boils down to the lack of actual editors willing to do the job, and at this point there will be no retrenchment in position to how Wikipedia was before 2008.
Still "Globally Banned" on Wikipedia for the high crime of journalism.

That's not all. You can chart the mostly leftist, pro-LGBT, pro-feminist, pro-Jewish and pro-Israel, pro-hacker and pro-etc. house biases of Wikipedia just by pointing at the BLPs it has as well as the missing ones.

Consider Lena Dunham. Wikipedia says very damn little about all the people who dislike her. And damn there's a lot. It also fails to note her status as a NYC spoiled trust-fund brat; hope that's obvious from reading down further....? But by god it sure as hell mentions her Jewish mother. Otherwise Wikipedia treats her like a "cultural hero". Like most Wiki-Luv celebrities, the opening paras (which are most likely to be quoted by Google and other websites) say nothing unpleasant about Lena. If the Wiki-Asses hate someone, you WILL see negative info in the opening.

Who hates Lena? Umm, form a line.....

And here's another one Wikipedia won't tell you about--a TV show on the Hulu streaming system. One that's been in development for MORE THAN TEN YEARS. What excuse could there possibly be for this? English Wikipedia is often the first "reference website" to post material about TV programs before almost anyone else other than IMDB. Let me guess, no one in Wiki-Land knows who "Johnny Carson" was?

It's not flying yet, but judging from the many recent mentions in the aviation and Seattle-area press, the Boeing 797 is a certainty.

http://money.cnn.com/2017/11/20/news/co ... index.html
https://www.seattletimes.com/business/b ... they-hear/
https://www.seattletimes.com/business/b ... sized-jet/
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles ... ew-797-jet
http://www.popularmechanics.com/flight/ ... -airliner/

The only mention of it on Wikipedia is a passing note in the "Middle of the market" article. And a stupid internet hoax.

I was going to mention "Gottlob Espenlaub" not being mentioned, but then I remembered Silver Seren started a stub about him years ago.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottlob_Espenlaub

It could be better. A lot better. There's not much written about him, though, since he burned much of his papers after WWII and he became something of an eccentric after the war. His colleague, Alexander Lippisch, gets more credit and acclaim.

We talked about Espenlaub on WR a loooong time ago. Obviously and clearly the days when Wikizombies would look at the critical forum(s) for article ideas are over. They won't even take a hint anymore.

Here's another one that I had posted on Facebook.

Why isn't there an article about Joel Tucker, one of America's leading loan fraudsters? He even started a software company that made, guess what, loan-fraud software.

There's one about his brother Scott.....who ran his own scams and used his ill-gotten-gains to run a racing team. That's what really matters to Wiki-Nits, the sports angle. Wiki-Nits love sports. Angry little fat manchildren want to talk about sports. Loan fraud is "boring".

If Wikipedia skeptics and the RationalWiki nut squad hate crackpot gurus so much......

....where's the coverage of Bentinho Massaro?

https://medium.com/@bescofield/tech-bro ... 6314f830ef
It’s clear that Bentinho has achieved many of the goals of a new startup: successful branding, passive income, social media reach, great design and platform creation. Bentinho has mastered the game. No, he became the game and upgraded it. Cosmic domination. He wants your soul. And his followers are the pawns of his delusional, tragic vision of an enlightened society.

Yes, most of those are blog posts. Since when has that ever stopped the "guerilla skeptics" from taking a dump on a guru? He's just another Werner Erhard ripoff anyway.

Metafilter had time and space to screech about him. https://www.metafilter.com/171035/Cult-20-is-upon-us
I have never heard of this person before, and he does indeed sound like just another shitty cult leader to me. This is only reinforced by the vast flood of sycophants showing up in the comments on the Medium article to tell the author how wrong she is and how awesome he is and how obviously she just needs to understand his teachings better and she will see how wrong she is. Nothing says "not a cult" like vast floods of defensive sycophants.

David Vyorst died. He was a prominent Internet governance figure and a documentary filmmaker.

But there's almost nothing about him on Wikipedia, except a short article about ONE documentary he made, with his name as a red link.

Do the Wiki-smegmas need links? Have some damn links. Little bastards.
