As the great crypto skeptic Molly White, a fellow newsletter self-hoster, wrote on her site earlier this week, independence is such a complicated bag of beans. One bit of external BS, whether a frivolous legal claim or an unexpected hike in your costs, can topple the whole thing.

If you read her blog post, she talks about a crypto shill who hired a "reputation management" company to bribe her into taking down a blog post about said "fine gentleman". She refused, so they reposted her content on Blogspot, dated to the day BEFORE her post, and tried to make a DMCA claim to force her into removing it.

This is a DAMN sleazy trick. So evidently she's becoming a "celebrity" partly by pissing off crypto scam artists.

Good luck Molly.......that way lies monsters.

Possibly because GOATSE is named after a gross shock joke from the Web 1.0 period. If the Dime-Store Nosferatu David Gerard can write a book on the topic SEVEN years ago, any fool can write a newsblaag trying to keep on top of the slippery pole that is crypto, because things constantly change in that world due to how volatile each form of 'coin is -- they have gone through the equivalent of multiple bank runs with some of this stuff. I saw Line Goes Up by Dan Olson. My argument is that crypto is like a digital MLM scam with the element of "the scam within the scam" (the pump and dumps and the rugpulls). They have never built a use case for crypto that doesn't involve using it for illegal materials (drugs, child porn, sex slavery, etc.) because normal money is too easy. Axie Infinity is a pyramid scheme and the places where it is common should try to ban it. The US government (especially the Democrats) are racking their brains trying to make crypto a thing, and that is riding into the mental landscapes of Don Quixote; crypto is a cul-de-sac and not the future.

Side note:

Molly's getting a bit lazy, not as many updates to her blog as in the past--not like the "golden years" of 2021-22.

Crypto news sites that Molly uses as sources, like Coindesk, Cryptoslate and theblock.co, are usually full of "negative news" about crypto. Arrests and prosecutions are routinely reported. Things are looking VERY shaky in general--yet the mainstream tends to ignore it, leaving millions of suckers unaware that the great new "investment opportunity" someone's trying to feed them is a lie. Some of the stunts pulled in this field are just so damn embarrassing, you have to wonder how stupid American investors are.

You don't see as much of the old "Bitcoin's going to the million dollar level, Etherium will make trillionaires, buy my NFT cartoons today blah blah" crap today. But as usual, Silly Valley freaks like Andreesen and Musk are all heavily invested in crypto and NFTs, so they will do and say anything to keep the shit-covered ball rolling....

Since it started rising (and falling and rising again) in late 2013, Bitcoin has been one of the most unstable "investments" in history. Currently hovering at around $95k. The suckers keep coming.
