Re: Paid Editing
If you like to laugh at Wikipedians shrieking at each other, the COI Noticeboard is even more rewarding than AN/I these days. It's the current favorite hangout for some of their worst: Peter Ekman aka "Smallbones", Guy Chapman, Jytdo(n)g, Kudpung and his pud, Beyond My Ken and the like.
Just last week they forced this guy off.

Partly because they noticed this Daily Dot article (almost FIVE YEARS after it ran):

Fuckheads.....

Re: Paid Editing
Who is Peter Coleman? Well, he looks like a paragon of Australian politics, according to Wikipedia.
But Wikipedia won't tell you about this stuff.

You can thank this account for whitewashing the WP bios of the entire Coleman family.

Re: Paid Editing
Could it be possible that Deoliveirafan is merely an obsessed fan of that obscure Brazilian director, and of other foreign filmmakers? Or is this a paid account? And why did he/it create the Jill Messick article today? She was "non-notable"--until she killed herself.

Re: Paid Editing
For a good test case of how Wikipedia "magically sanctifies" the BLPs of certain important people, consider the edit history of Larry Silverstein. One of the meanest real-estate moguls in NYC, and yes I include Trump in that list.
Either he's paying for it or some other arrangement was made, because a LOT of WP insiders have watchlisted it over the years. Especially Wikimedia New York director and MediaWiki developer Katie "Aude" Filbert, who has edited it 103 times since 2006. We've rarely talked about Katie before because she's "such a nice lady" lol.
For obvious reasons lots of 9/11 conspiracy nuts have gone after Silverstein (thus) so I guess none of this would be surprising. It also explains why that fat asshole MONGO keeps popping up in the history. He hates 9/11 "truthers". Like a good little American boy scout.

Re: Paid Editing
Who the hell is Mark Eddinger?
I've worked in professional audio for 30-plus years and never heard of him.
He openly created his own article in 2010, and later hired a PR professional to watch it.

And where are those COI lunatics when this is happening?

Re: Paid Editing
Look to me a kind of Oscar van Dillen. A music professor who have done some session work, a session musician. And that doesn't matter, because some are fantastic musicians, but they are simple not the superstars. It's the same as a backing vocalists, or a audio engineer. A good sound is made by a team, everybody who have been in that business knows that.
The Dutch Wikipedia is also filled up with this kind of pimped articles, it's the wikipedia system. wikipedia is one piece of naivety with it's good faith and users with a mental defect, it's a real dangers cocktail.
A wiki article is business, it's money. And that's were it went wrong.

Please don't remind me:

Many of those people do not deserve coverage, but it appears anyone of "importance" connected to Wikimedia will get an adulatory and noncritical article from now on.
And Hampton Catlin is really disgusting. He's a total nobody, apart from working for the WMF for a couple years, and helping to get Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich purged....Catlin's article was created for him by fellow WMF employee and checkuser Leon "MusikAnimal" Ziemba.....will Ziemba get his own WP article? Place your bets....

Re: Paid Editing
There is no question that John Curl wrote his own WP biography.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:C ... 1mission10
Not mentioned there is his role as a designer with guitar builder Alembic, the "custom shop" of instruments for the Grateful Dead. Curl was involved in the design of the Dead's infamous "Wall Of Sound" PA system, the beginning of the modern pro-audio industry. He also designed many early audiophile products for Mark Levinson and Parasound. I suspect because Curl is an arrogant type, he doesn't want his involvement in the audiophile world mentioned on Wikipedia.....even the photos he posted for the article are more than 20 years old. Nowadays he looks like this.
