Remember the Trump physical checkup? This was the claim, reported with a straight face by idiot journalists. This is an old story with him--paying off doctors to lie about his physical condition to the media.

Yet I keep seeing things like this.Per the report, Trump’s height and weight are 75 inches and 224 pounds, respectively.

Musk leaves, DOGE gets re-staffed by literal, confirmed MMT economist fans who don't give a shit about the debt. And Trump returns to his good old self on debt/deficts
"The debt limit should be entirely scrapped to avoid economic catastrophe"

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
According to Redditors, Wikipedia admins, Rationalwiki regulars, and large swaths of the Democratic Party, we are currently living under fascism. Fascism!. You may not have noticed because, yea it's not happening.
Living under fascism would seem to provoke dramatic action no?, not just statements here and there. I have a hard time believing they really think this. The latest story I saw as "evidence" for this was ICE arrests of illegal immigrants at courthouses. This is usually entirely legal under existing law.
They know what fascism is. It involves dictatorship, but most dictatorships are not fascist. Additionally, the US is still not experiencing much dictatorship in action (although both Biden and Trump had full authority to go in that direction). And certainly not fascism in action.
Are people being made to drink castor oil for criticizing Trump or his supporters. Is the government shooting people in the head for criticizing Trump?
The criticism of Trump in the corporate news, both large and small is more frequent. In fact it's 24/7. Turn on the TV and Trump criticism from wealthy elites is likely the first thing you are likely to see. That's not fascism. If you were actually living under fascism, the late-night monologues and viral TikToks mocking leadership would land people in prison, or worse.
If in 4-5 years Trump declares martial law for JD Vance to rule as a dicatator, or even fascist dictator (lol), that is different maybe, but as of now, people are fearmongering for attention and histrionics.
I think a more honest appraisal of the situation is that we are increasingly living under a reality TV show state of grifters and conmen from both parties using him for personal gain. A descent into a celebritized version of Eastern European states. Unlike in EE though this is being led by the media, who admit in private polling they created Trump and can't go 2 seconds without uttering his name.

Re: The (new, straight-from-scratch) Trump thread
Fascism, in any meaningful sense, involves suppression of dissent by the state and its media and citizenry organs with brutal enforcement. What we have instead is a bizarre system where dissent against a nominally authoritarian federal government is widely monetized, tweeted, algorithmically boosted, and then turned into TV and Netflix specials. Far from being silenced by the state and big business, verbal dissent is eveywhere. Constant media denunciations that would never be allowed in fascism are everywhere 24/7.
And Trump knows it, he once remarked on Morning Joe how much of an asset he is to "professional opinion makers" years ago. Without Trump to fearmonger about, what would they have left to finance their failing journo industries? They already tried to convince a bunch of 30-40 year olds they'd die from something that affected nearly all of them less than a mild cold.
David Pakman is among the worst of them, every month coming out with a clickbait video saying how he is going to LEAVE THE COUNTRY (all caps his), because he's an Argentinian immigrant. After he gets his inevitable clicks, he is a bit more honest and says he doesn't actually fear state repression.
