I'm going to decline. I don't think I have enough time to devote to it, plus, I didn't get voted in the last time, so I don't know if I'd have a better chance this time around. We make more enemies every year... Plus, Fram helped tank me the last time and I don't want to go through that again, also because of privacy issues. ..... To step up takes effort and courage. It's so much easier to be a lazy coward complaining about everything.
These people above btw, I'm happy they won't run for ArbCom.

No intelligent person wants to be on the arbcom. Especially after the last couple years and the Fram case, they are really going to have a hard time filling the vacating seats.

Personally I hope there aren't enough candidates to even have an arbco. And they have to close it down as the failure it has become.

Anyone who does accept the role are going to be the ones who shouldn't have it like Bbb23.

This claim is not correct. I have seen very intelligent peeps on arbcom. Better, no one with any common cense want to be on the arbcom.

I was rather referring to the current arbcom but sure.

That might be the end of ArbCom and self-regulation. The benefit of the Fram debacle might be that the community realizes, that self-regulation requires more moral, courage, effort, etc. and less toxicity than the community has.

Like him, but not him. He wouldn't risk being identified. The protection money that he presumably collects for protecting specific sock-puppeteers, is worth more than being an arb. CheckUsers already laugh at arbs, anyway.

I suspect what is coming isn't an end to self-governance or an end to Arbcom, but an end to the Administrators-only monopoly at Arbcom.

They are going to have a very, very hard time filling all the vacancies with The Usual Suspects.

There's time enough to run an RfA between announcing a candidacy and voting.

There is not one single reason why someone who thinks they're good enough to be on ArbCom, wouldn't pass RfA with some ease.

Seriously, try and come up with the name of someone who would stand a chance in hell of being voted into ArbCom in a normal year, who wouldn't easily pass RfA.

Non-admins might make it this year, but they're not going to be good candidates. Kudpung is running. Kudpung! Why? Because he realizes this is the year that people who would otherwise stand no chance, might just squeeze in.

It's going to be an interesting test of the rules, because I seem to recall there is a minimum percentage support required, and if that means seats can't be filled, that is apparently what is supposed to happen.

Good point there. Kudpung would be a toxic arbitrator, but this year he might make it... oh, God.

Pretty much zero chance he's going to pass Arbcom. But, if they have enough people decided to not run and they are short candidates, he might sneak by with a 1 year.
