Re: Music Thread
People seem to still be "shocked" that rock-and-rollers live shorter lives than average.....and hip-hop is the worst of all.

Re: Music Thread
Jagger singing Dutch.
The stones were in Holland for a concert, and we have in Holland what you call volksmuziek, music of the people.
Originally this style of music was played in de bruine (brown) cafe's, were the walls and the ceiling are brown of sigaret smoke in De Jordaan, a neighborhood in Amsterdam.
Now this music is also very populair in the rest of Holland.
Frans Bauer is one of the volkszanger and Heb je even voor mij was one of his greatest hits. Frans is very honored by the way.
Andre Hazes was what you can call the godfather of this volksmuziek. He made this kind of music very populair in Holland. He died young, because of to much alcohol and cigarettes, but he is still extreme populair, just like his son is now.

Re: Music Thread
Vladimir Vysotsky - "Capricious Horses"
Vysotsky was a poet, stage/film actor, and singer who unfortunately died young in 1980. This is what the Britannica says about him; here is what Jimbo's Jungle possibly stole from a Russian website and rewrote, or syncretically mixed together from multiple sources.
Where the film was shot and when is unknown (I'm guessing early-1970s and Moscow, because Vysotsky lived there). He is playing a "Russian guitar", which is a seven-stringer tuned to an "open G" chord, though there are alternate tuning schemes (Wikipedia claims he tuned the guitars down to a lower "G.") Notice that he trills the "r"s on words that end with them; that is totally him and not a standard style of singing Russian folksongs or ballads....this is why people called him a bard, though he denied it. He sang in thieves' cant ("Fenya" or "blatnoy tongue") when the subject was crime or serving jail time, he sang like a soldier when he did war songs, his natural acting and recitation ability were tremendous. Allegedly he left behind 600 songs, many recorded on cassette tapes ("magnitizdat" - "magnetic Samizdat" or self-published music) with minimal accompaniment because they were done in apartments, during breaks at theatrical rehearsals, etc.
Vysotsky is still popular, and he is all over YouTube if you look.
Addendum:
The one-man special on Soviet Channel 1 he did in 1980 before he died.
Unfortunately I have never seen it subtitled in English.
The Meeting Place Cannot be Changed, a Soviet TV movie
Vysotsky did in the late 1970s. English subtitles.

Fanboy drivel. Most of it is poorly sourced. This guy wrote the biggest chunk.
