I'm not sure if the political situation in the US right now is optimal for this to gain any traction. The ADL is a left-wing organization, in spite of its support for Israel. And, obviously, right now left-wing political groups don't have much power in the US federal government. Trump Republicans generally like Israel and don't like Wikipedia very much, but they also don't like the ADL very much. Also, most of the left-wing activists in the US currently really dislike Israel. We'll see what happens.

This is part of why antisemites make the usual paranoid claims about "Jews controlling the world"; most journalists are idiots who will parrot whatever sensationalistic stuff they see on social media or in Israeli media, or elsewhere. The ADL has lost some of its standing thanks to American leftists and their growing outrage about the Gaza war. Still, the ADL's inherently-biased crew can drive this narrative.

Read their report. It yammers on and on about the "bad-faith editors" but doesn't identify them. And it is quite obvious that the authors don't really understand how WP functions (or doesn't function) internally. Using bots and sock accounts to bury biased editing is classic insider trickery--practically ancient by now. Every serious editwarrior creates a pile of socks as the first order of business.

It's a very shallow report and says nothing about the previous history of WP's endless Israeli-Arab squabbling. They went looking for RECENT dirt, and what a surprise, they found plenty. There is a section about the Arabic language Wikipedia, and much spluttering about its bias, but NOT A WORD about Hebrew Wikipedia's bias. Remember that when I looked into this back in 2013, I found pro-Israel editors fiddling with dozens of other language Wikipedias--even Chinese and Russian.

Look at Table 1. The very first entry covers the stupid (and failed) 2018 AFD for the "Jewish Israeli stone throwing" article. It's a stupid article, and it was an ugly squabble, as usual there was "no consensus", yet the ADL claims the "bad faith editors" voted 100% to keep. So which ones are they??

And now I wonder if Greenblatt is pushing this report because he was offended by something in his own BLP.

Two years ago the calls for Congress to investigate Wikipedia would've been dismissed as crazy, but here we stand now. Eric, I suggest you to get some M-disks or any other disks that won't be suspectible to disc rot in the foreseeable future and copy all of your databases and entries about Wikipedia's affairs to these. It's increasingly likely that you'll get a congressional subpoena regarding those materials one day as you're a chief critic of Wikipedia for more than a decade.
